Passports needed June 1 at Canada Border.

In starting June, American tourists will need passport for land, sea and air to back into the US. They no longer show driver's license card to US entry. You may apply for passport. Cost $100 but new Passport Card is good only for land and sea crossings between US, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean, it is $45 for adults and $35 for kids under 15.

Travelers need a passport June 1 for entry into Canada -

Your kids under 15's passport is $85.00 for all countries. if you need to enter to Canada or Mexico, You can get new Passport Card at $45 for adults and $35 for kids. Not so bad. but you will wait to get new cards in four to six weeks when applied.

See Passport cards image.

Well, Puerto Rico is exempt from requirement of US passport for American citizens since they are part of US territory.

I disagree with this law, because it is a bit of an inconvenience. Not that we go into the States very often, because we have only driven across the border twice in all my life of living 45 minutes from the New York border. I don't have any need to go into the States anytime soon anyways, so it's not really any skin off my nose, but it is unfortunate for those other people that go into the States quite frequently. I think that this law is more because of the US' southern border with Mexico because of the problems the Americans are having with illegal immigrants.

If they fail to show their passport to a security agent at the border, they will be sent to Gitmo!

The requirements of passport at U.S. and Canadian airports already began in 2007.

Speaking of June 1st, it is directed at the cross borders. My home is only 1 1/2 hours drive-long north from the Canadian-U.S. border and I tend to go to Upstate New York a few times every year. I don't mind carrying my passport although it is a hassling inconvenience for me to go thru the U.S. and Canadian Customs.

I believe that will be miles-long lines at border crossings after June 1.

yup- it was then they annouced they will need to postpone it and look into it more. But you might want to look into your state local DMV instead of getting a passport. In NYS, they have what you call a ENHANCED drivers lincense. This will allow you to go into Canada and back in US without a passport. I think this is great as the driver lincense will always stay in my wallet and I won't have to worry about where is the passport. If my passport is stolen from home, what am I gonna do about identity theft ?
