I would love to do Road trip but it will be in the states or Europe not in England (too many traffics, traffic lights, roundabouts!!!)

I would love to hire a van and Drive through the mountians to see my Parents who lives in Austria. (approx 1000 miles)

I love to travel on a road trip! I like to take a good shot at scenic road.

My husband and I went to Florida from here. It take us 12 hours drove there. I love to view the mountains and lakes. We have a own GPS. It's helpful! I love to read the maps. I am very good at navigator!

I have done my shares of road trips in the late 80's and 90's (during college of course!) and I haven't gone on road trips in 8 yrs! I look forward to do road trips in the futures when the gas prices are reasonable and etc.

I love road travels than traveling by planes

My hubby and I just talk about a road trip...probably in 3-4 years from now. (not sure when though...) It gonna be a lot of FUN! I cannot wait to touch some more states and touch them ALL beside Alaska and Hawaii (those both can wait! )

He said why not to drive to CA from Rochester...I was like oh boy, that's a long way!! But that sound like fun but a lot of driving! I don't mind...we can stop wherever we wanted to go...

So that'll be A LOT of planning where we wanted to go, where to stay (I believe we'll be camping out...cheaper!), etc.

I honestly don't feel that gas prices are ever going to be "reasonable" again. When I think of the "reasonable" cost is when we finally get mandated hybrid->electric-->and ultimately Hydrogen (best option) automobiles. I am scared and skeptical of the fuel resources of our world and the greed of those who are in control. I think I go back to horse and buggy road trips......oh wait, I'm severly allergic to horses. Road trips can be great yet sometime boring depending the scenic viewings. Began to dislike any long trips that take more than 10 hours... when I was a young adult, I could drive up to 20 hours straight. I then understood why those older people prone to take it "easy" on the long roads and stop by at a hotel in the mid-travel.

Wonder how much it affects those road trips due to the crazy high prices those days ahead. I should have taken few long trips where I would like to take back then, darnit! lol

If you're not afford to sleep at hotel for several days. You might get a RV. My husband and I want to have our own RV in future when we have a kids. I think RV is cheaper than stay at hotel. What do you think???

I want to touch all 50 states and include 2 countries in Alaska and Mexico. I touched 17 states in my life. That's sucK! I want MORE!!!!

I agree with you. It can share with friends' money to help pay the gas. My husband, me and his best friend and his wife are plan to go road trip to Cedar Point's Theme Park in Ohio on Aug. My husband will drive. His best friend will pay him for gas.

RV is cheaper if you go out of town frequently for a while. If not... then it's pointless and it's nothing but a money drain. But what kind of RV are you talking about? the bus size or smaller than that?

Have you noticed that there's a lot less RVs on the road now? I don't see many around now due to high gas prices, uh oh!

haha RV w/ AC on is A-MUST. let's hope your husband will make 6-figures. College debt + home mortgage + child(s) expense + bills... ouch it's gonna be a while unless you got something else under your sleeve that will fix those issues. but dang I'd like to have an RV myself too. I think I'd prefer a small yacht over it.

Yupp I love road trips! Even I like it better than the planes!

Quote:
What's your favorite thing to do during a road trip?
Stop by anything that are interesting.

Quote:
Would you much rather ride the highways or the scenic back roads?
Doesn't matter, whatever it lead me to where I want to go is fine with me

Quote:
Does anyone have any tips for a female road tripping by herself on safety, etc?
*EDITIED* Just stay in the car and only stop at the stores or where there's lot of people. Don't get out of the car alone.

Quote:
Where would you suggest a road trip to?
Well I am not sure what I should suggest, but my most favorite was driving south from Vancouver BC to Seattle, Washington then Portland, Oregon, then Mt. Shasta, California then Lake Tahoe and Reno, Nevada and lastly, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Quote:
If you were to go on a road trip, where would you go to? and why?
I would do the same what I said above before my 21st age expires, and I don't know what else I would go

Quote:
Do you play games to pass the time in the car or do you just sit there and ask questions like: Are we there yet?
Mostly I just sit and watching the window, or playing the video games, or watching a movie on a DVD player, or eat. My tips how to avoid from being so much bored, just stop and get out. You can't do that in the planes, that's why I hate planes.

I guess it depends on the state. I don't see that many here due to gas prices are over $4.30 in most places.

A lot of the RV places are discounting their stays to help offset the cost of gas.

Bryce canyon and Zions NP are really something. I have been to both at least a half dozen times and each visit is just as pleasureable as the first. I had bad experience in Bryce Canyon though when I was 19. I had been very allergic to horses in past, but didn't think I was anymore. Well essentially I started having severe respiratory problems about 3/4 of way through the ride down and up the canyon. When we got back we had to go to Park Station and call Paramedics. I ended up having to stay in local county hospital while the rest of the family and extended family finished the last few days of trip.

Speaking of Route 66, I was told that they have several Cadillacs that are partially buried in the ground. I thought that was nifty and would love to see it.

Liza - Do be safe on your trip and and most of all, enjoy the trip! I'd love to hear how it went when you return from the trip.
The buried Cadilacs are in Texas, near Amarillo which is 2 hours north of where I am now.

Some use diesel and some don't. Diesel is now much higher than gasoline.

I just got back from a two week long/3k road trip. Wow, that was really intense. I must say that I have enjoyed it but I was glad to be home. All the driving has really worn me out! I did not feel any danger as a single (good looking?! haha) woman on the road, since I had my pepper spray and common sense. Having GPS didn't hurt at all, either.. that is a worthy investment!

We'll be going down to NC next week! so we'll be driving...whoo whoo! A lot cheaper than airfares prices! So just 6 or 7 of us will camp out, off road, sight seeing, out to dinner, etc It'll be a lot of fun. Oh yea... BEACH!!! I hardly wait!
