There ARE dangerous places around the world that many people would not go. South Africa is dangerous place to visit, you gotta be careful! It depends what part of the world you/husband go.

Amsterdam, netherlands and klev Ukraine isn't the worst places to visit, they are actually pretty nice places to visit.

its also depends on whats going on in the world... i mean i wouldnt go to Iraq cuz of war there plus north korea no way no thanks however i wouldnt mind go visit egypt or ireland, etc... or especially france.

theres another reason people think it s crazy is cuz of money... its so expensive to vacation in other countries. Last time I checked... it cost more than 5 grand for one week vacation only. Now thats crazy for me cuz i could use that 5 grand for something better like a CAR! or whatever.

Mexico is not dangerous for me.

I think the war-torn countries are dangerous. Like Iraq, Eastern Europe...
I have heard bad stories about Russia so

I wouldn't mind travelling all over Europe. Asia, I wouldn't mind but it will be hard since they lack in modern transportation and technology (and lack English!) so if I do know a friend who is familar wtih Asian countries, I wouldn't bum a ride with her/him throughout the Asia and the islands. :-)

It is worth the time to know the language of countries you are planning to go-- basic words like "help" "where is [blank]" et cetera... and have a guidebook handy!

(and a spray of mace! :haha

Umm if you do stay at a FANCY hotel!
There are HOSTELS (MUCH cheaper!) to consider...
and it HELPS if you do have a friend in the country! Join a penpal circle! Or at least have a brochure from the country so you can get a range of prices and where to avoid (too TOURIST-Y spots) and go where the native people will go... i mean, Will you pay that much in your own city? No? It is the same thing for them in another country-- and you get the sights of the country from a native's viewpoint! It is more unique and personal!
Travelling is not for rich people anymore. You can find a CHEAP flight if you try hard, then you can get by in the country... just dont fall for those tourist crap.
Just travel and take in the sights! The sights are free. ;-)

Central part of South Africa (known as 'Free State') is an OK place to visit and stay anytime. My great-uncle and his family lived in central part of South Africa for many years while on ministry duty. They all enjoyed living there!

When visiting other countries, don't go by yourself! Be with the crowds so you won't be targeted by militant groups and etc.

Go for it, what stopping you?

To me it is good to travel and keep in touch with your relatives, friends regular to let them know of your whereabout.

It is best to bring a company with you.

To me I think it is more risky for you if your American Citizen, than European citizens etc. I hope I am wrong?

Don't worry about their different languages as you will find most of them know English as their second language!!

Bon Voyage

yeah what i think most of them is afraid of flying overseas, half of world, there in Europe my friends and many deaf people have gone by train, and travel there again and often it is easy to take by train, ofc, sometimes happened train accident they will still go anyway, but from Europe to USA they arent afraid of flying up here, they dont know there is many crime with guns, bulgary, rape.. theres different not much happened like that American still think unsafe to travel
Europe is beautiful, old historical buildings, castles.. I m so much miss my home country. Alike my husband before met me said would never visit other countries but he did and would love to travel again/often

stay in hotel through travel agency might be expensive but find there hotels cheaper without service sighting e.t.c. just a night/s also there is rent u may find at airport or train station

Me? Well, just dont visit a country who is having a politicial problem where there will be protests. It may be safer at some other times when feelings are not running too amok.

I think it's relatively safe for Americans to travel in countries that are members of EU, and scandinvanian countries are pretty safe, too. Just use street smarts, and don't be alone if you have fears. How do you think tourists feel when they are visiting YOUR country?

I myself been traveling lot.. the key is KNOWLEGE where you wanted travel to specific country--you have to do research about what country you wanted to visit before decide what to do next. For example.. plan to go Greece. I do research on google and see if anything is problem with gov't stable issue, religion, etc..

Do you know that in EURO is now even more expensive than other? Because of currency exchange are huge gap between EURO and USD. 10 years ago, EURO is very cheap.. but now it's very expensive. Advice? Go ASIA or South America, Mexico.. Don't get me wrong about South America.. as long you know exactly what to do! Especially first time traveller!!!
