Should Americans....
Should Americans be required to show a passport in order to return to the U.S.? I have read that we are required to carry our passport before entering our homeland in the United States, from Canada, Mexico, etc. will take effect Dec. 2007.
Do you agree that we should required to show our passport? I've never had a passport before, But I think I should require to carry one to get home, If that is the only way to get home.

Yeah, why not. but heard it takes longer to acquire a passport.
I need to get one so me and my hubby can arrange two weeks vacation to ireland, scotland and england in the future... grrr. have to find my birth certificate since my mom lost it. may have to contact hospital to request a copy so can get the passports going. I guess it does help to prevent more terriorists like 9/11, not sure.

Americans have ALWAYS been required to show their passports when returning home from abroad outside North America. When I was in Canada waiting to fly back to SLC, the US Customs asked for my passport and I showed it. I think it is a good idea, but since I had always been doing it for years, it's not like it's a totally new idea to me.

I've went to Canada twice and they never asked me for my passport so I don't think it was always been that way, because if it had then I would be asked for a passport before entering in the US.

My Canadian friend and his hearing wife took me to Niagaria Falls and they told the Passport Control Inspector they are Canadian citizens, I was surprised to see they believe their words and let them go to America without checking their passport or id, it is very flexible I have seen!
I thought myself if I tell them a lie that I am Canadian citizen like them, they will believe me outright. I love to collect all over the world's passport stamps in my well worn out passport book to prove my friends and my sovenior LOL and they asked to check my husband and mine, we order American visa in London prior to our trip there. I was asked to check my passport if I travel to Northern Ireland as it belongs to Great Britain - no different. European and Australia are very strict to check everyone's identidy. It is about time for American to wake up to inspect for their safety. I heard that non-American citizens will press a ink of their fingerprint as soon as they arrive their soil.

I was reading this about passports. Yes Americans and other ppls from out of USA require to have passports. I already have passports to protect myself by going through the problems because of WTC and wars. When I worked for university by other county (out of USA) and we as my former work, my CEO and President sent students from all over the world such as M'sian, Japan, Phillippinies, and few others came to USA and they had to have passports and ids to show before enter USA mainland.
As for Liebling, I read your message and yes because when my son came to USA and I had to apply all informations to allow him to be USA and also when I go out of USA and taking my son with me. He had to have fingerprinting and all that because he was born in Germany and was adopted by me in the USA. PurrMeow |

I know from the rumors thru people, magazines, etc. for some time but I dont know either the rumor about those issue true or not. As far as I know that they are planning to have DNA on it, too. They are still debate about this thatīs what I saw TV news. I donīt know how long they will agree to have DNA on it or not. I think itīs meaningful to use DNA on it because itīs easier and quickly to arrest the suspect thru DNA.

we should have it ready no matter what we are entering US or leaving US... always carry it all the time. I learn that long time ago and my understanding when I took my passport photo made.
One time, I was in Mexico and they almost not let me enter US because I not carrry enough to proof.... lucky, my one of group who trip with me was there and told the *&!@#* mexico cop. He looked at me ugly look and I was so upset! That was last 20 years ago!

I always have my passport-- I have mine since age 8. I bring it when I go into Mexico-- since I wasn't old enough to have a driver's license. That was the days before my mother found out that kids can get "California's Id" that resembles Driver's license but isn't for the driving purposes. I stuck with the passport instead-- it serves me a better purpose. I also love to get stamps from different countries. I got zillions from England. several Finland. I didn't get one from Sweden even though I went there once... HMPH! I just got my passport renewed several years ago... ONly got two stamps on it. Dammit. Gotta start all over again. Hopefully I will go to Finland so I can get another stamp! Maybe I should look for a stopover on the way back home in France... ;-) I do think it is wise for people to get a passport if they decide to travel outside the country. I mean-- it is not fair that non-Americans have to get passports while American citizens whiz in and out. AND IT IS FUN TO COLLECT STAMPS! Something fiesty for you guys to depict! Quien estas? Tambien usted hermana, Cheri? Ah, esta llama Angel? Ay, no halbas espanol? Pero usted come quesdillas y tacos, no? Ay ay cambrien! |
