" Denied a rape kit "

I read a true story I got in my monthly mag about women's health and relationships stories. I read a good story I got about a woman whom was deny a rape kit and it was so sad. Here the story..

This happens on December 8, 2006 a young girl name Katy, an 19 years old Howard University sophomore went off campus to a party with couple of close friends. About 3 AM, the party was dying down, but Katy was "MIA". She seems disoriented earlier, and her friends got so worried. Her friends went to look for her upstairs, a large guy blocked their way, her friends demanded entery and the gys at the party became belligerent. After arguing, one of the guys says that Katy was in the bathroom and would be down in a mintue. When Katy emerged, she had trouble walking and once outside, she started vomiting and was inchoerent. Since she had only one drink, and her friends suspected taht she been drugged and possibliy assaulted. So, they took her to the Howard University Hospital. As they explained what had happened and voiced their suspicions, Kathy continuned to vomit and drift in and out of consciousness.

But the hospital allegedly refused to test her for drugs and rape kit. According to Katy's complaint filed in court, the doctor said it was pointless to nurse her because of her disoriented state. The hospital told them to return the next afternoon. Katy woke up with pain in her rectum, once again doctor refuse to run test on her. The hospital did not bother to phone the cops. So, not only did they poilce refuse to investigate, Katy's lawyer said they didn't even report a crime to the poilce. A second hopsital also allegedly refused to do a rape kit. Nosw Katy is suing the hospitals, the police department, and the doctors involved. The defendants claims that they complined with "all applicable standards of care. " But Katy want them to changes. This must been a very difficult thing for her to do. She is committed to fight to see it through.

What do you think about this? what if this situation was you? What would you do?

If I were in her shoe, I would done the same thing it sue them. I feel terrible for her.

I don't have to provide a link, but I can provide where I get my information from so I got my from women mag under cosmo. Please no bashing or fight and keep this post friendly to have a good discussion. fair enough?
