Guess who this could be....

Any guess - lets just say its Bush's back up quarterback and with 5 minutes left on the clock and a TD needed to win - he's on the sidelines playing with his gameboy.....

Actually, it is Dick Cheney on a duck hun here in Arkansas. Rumor is that he hunted near Greenbrier one day and did a hunt near Scott another day and made a stop at Mack's.

What chaps my ass isnt the fact that he's republican and I tend to side with the democraps a little more, its more that we've got guys livin' in Baghdad dodging bullets 7 days a week and he's out usin government money to go on hunting trips. Our guys dont have the equipment to get the job done because they have no money to order supplies. And yet we can supply a convoy of gas guzzling SUVs to one man to go on a hunting trip.

This isnt right and it doesnt sit well with me.

But before you say he's got a stressful job - yes he does have a stressful job and everyone is entitled to a day off, but he's out wasting money our guys in Baghdad need to get supplies.

And BTW - I support the right to bear arms - this has nothing to do with hunting itself, although why would anyone want to be around Dick Cheney holding a shotgun?

A man of prominent stature does require such a convoy, 'specially in the world of terrorists, crazy disturbed ppls., whatnots, etc. are roaming about.

Whether or not you dislike a public official, their safety is important...it has 'nothing' to do with how soldiers are equipped or fitted elsewhere in the world..that kind of comparison is moot. However, I 'feel' ya and of course, our soldiers could do much better, etc., but, that's another 'topic'.

I just hope no fire arms "accidentally" discharge and shoot someone on this hunting trip!

But all of that for a 'personal' day? And terrorists in AR is laughable. The worst we could have around here is Billy Bob holding a corncobb pipe, sitting on his front porch in his overalls holding his grandaddy's shotgun. Besides I doubt Osama even knows where Scott, AR is much less even cares.

Besides our guys in Afghanistan and Iraq dont get to have a day off anytime they choose. They are in that warzone 24/7/365 while they are deployed. They cant even drive in their own convoys without fear of being blown to bits.

We are losing this war and our leader is only as good as Coach Nutt. And any army is only as good as their leader is able to lead them. Simply put, we dont have effective leadership.

Of course this late in a second term most trips are not necessary trips but they are taken just to spend the rest of the money in the budget for trips. I just dont think this administration has good financial skills needed. Why cant Cheney just go duck hunting on the Hudson Bay, wouldnt that be cheaper than a cross country trip in a convoy??

If I were a part of Mack's family - Im not sure I would want someone that high profile in my store - it disrupts buisness. Id have to close the store to other patrons that come on a more regular basis just so Cheney could browse around. And the convoy would take up every parking space in the lot.

And another thing is our guys are working 100+ hours a week dodging road side bombs and blowing things up for us taxpayers to rebuild, while our current congress just voted themselves a 4 day work week. It takes them less than 5 minutes to vote themselves a raise every session, while our citizens have to wait 10 years before congress decides to vote themselves a raise.

I think if our guys are over there working their butts off, then our leaders need to be working just as hard if not harder to ensure they are well supplied to get the job done, have the effective leadership to get it done, and to have a clear way of ending the war so we can bring our boys home.

Just so you guys know - I dont support this Iraqi mess we're in, but I do support our troops and want them home.

Jillio far as I know there have been no 'accidental' discharges, but Im willing to bet Billy Bob is willing to use that argument should his grandaddy's shotgun discharges into Cheney's convoy striking Cheney and causing serious truama.

LOL, that excuse has worked before in the case of government officials.

I can't disagree with anything you have stated here, Dixie. A well thought out and intelligent post.

Cheney doesn't control what it costs for something like this because the Secret Service entourage is a requirement so you'd see that same entourage anywhere he goes, whether it be in the city going to a restaurant or out in the boonies. It's the same cost on a daily basis.
