Yeah, that 10K seemed a little too sensationalized. If this waiter's best previous tip was 500, then why wouldn't Da Donald leave a 750 or 1k tip? Then again, that'd, I think, would still go against the grain because people like him didn't get to be where they are today by "giving money away".

Yes, Taxes has to be paid on all tips received. It is considered taxable income.
