Saw on the news like oh, I say like 15 yrs ago, black mayor of Atlanta ( I lost track of time, bec many time,, time flies and not realize that long or short), he said many blacks need to be re-educate, bec all the complaint about confederate flag and think its racist. KKK destroying the example of confederate flag or I say misusing them. Those days, many black slaves loved their master, bec lot of them have good master and treat the slaves very loving and caring. Lot of them masters aren't, there aren't all the same. It's depend on who the person is. And KKK need to re-educate. Problem is that many blacks are obvious which lead to become stereotyping. Bec I know alot of blacks are great people and not involve the wrong crowd of blacks. Nazi symbol is different, there is nothing good about Nazi.

Im a diehard Tarheel... part of the south.

I studied Civil War... Got some family members fighting for the Confederates. We had good people who had slaves, took good care of them, and we never heard about them... but we hear about the bad "masters" who beat the slaves up, underfed them, and treated them awful.

No I aint defending them but the truth needs to be told. There are a few black regiments in Confederate army and same in Union army.

Funny thing we southerners are blamed for not treating blacks well, but we hear plenty of stories up in North where yanks treat blacks terribly even today. Yet its not reported as often as it should.

About the flag... it is a good symbol of the southern people but now its being abused by skinheads, rednecks and KKK. I see the CSA flags in NASCAR but why? I dont know why!

I remember when Heath was allowed on the forums and when he displayed the Confederate flag on his avatar, I would automatically block him (place him on ignore).

I think a lot of southern people are so southern that they don't know what they're southern about!

That being said. Ahem. The Civil War is over! The South LOST. Get over it.

Your sick!!! On before civil war start, White southerners does treat black people so badly, such as cut their ear, hand or whatever when not work on something, also they are hurt black kids like whipping on their butt. Slave is REALLY BAD, period.

Yankees are treat black people so badly then your insane, it's for people, not yankee, also white southerners are make fun of black people, it's still as today.

Some of them aren't over with England what here used to be. Some aren't over what Louisiana used to be, from France. Some aren't over what Texas used to be nation. Some of them aren't over with Virginia as it was once first nation, too.

Can't they enjoy themselves, part of their heritage?

Although I'm not a big fan of the Confederate flag, I think it's a symbol of heritage, not hate.

Edit: But sadly, that doesn't mean everyone interprets it and expresses their opinion appropriately.

Heritage for all peoples of the Confederate States.

I had family members who fought on the Union side and those who fought on the Confederate side. I am proud of all of their contributions to our country.

I can't agree. We all know our American Flag is our main flag.
Re-enactors, Union and Confederate, display many flags and do so as honor to heritage.
People display Country, State, County, Military Unit, etc etc flags not as a slap in anyones face but as a tribute.

People must display them correctly though - Nation at the top, then state, and so on.

Indeed, The south has lost but the south hasn't lost it's pride.

I voted the poll for Heritage. Yes it is also a symbol of civil war but heritage is also history.

I just learned something interesting not too long ago about why the North and South went into Civil War. The other main (other than slavery) cause of this is because of the economy aspect of both north and south. If the South won and the North lost, it's most likely that slavery will prolong for a long time. If the Confederacy claim victory, who knows what laws they will have for the south or the nation. If it was not for the skillful leadership of Abe Lincoln, the South might have won but the South had several mistakes that costs them the war, the Gettysburg is most likely number one mistakes Confederate (General Lee) had.

Pretty much most country in the world has it's own Civil War, and American had one of it's own. With that, I would agree with you. There is one thing I do know, If the victory was reversed, This country would not be the same country as we know it to be today. It would be totally different. There's no telling what scenarios could have been out there. The currency system, religions, value, beliefs, so and on would have had an impact - if it was to be reversed.

As for Slavery, It is possible that it could have been very much prolonged but I also do think that it would have happened later on eventually, if it were not to happen during 1861-1865. It was only a matter of time before it was blew up.

As for having Civil War II, Who knows if that will happen or not? That remains to be seen. I hope it won't happen in our lifetime or in the future for generations to come. If it were to happen, It will definitely be much uglier.
