Alexander Graham Bell had suppressed or forbidden us to sign and other audism attitudes on his part to not believe us be deaf and not to let us have any deaf children. Although he married to his wife who was deaf, he believed that oralism method was the best way and still is today. He wanted to remove their idea of being deaf so that they can mainstream with the hearing society. It is really like being brainwashed and being isolated from the Deaf community. It was very hard to be with the hearing people when we struggled trying to understand what the hearing people expect us to say or do. There were no freedom for us to express. They were very strict with us making us suffered and we, the deaf, getting all frustrated struggling so hard in the hearing society. No wonder that is why when we graduated or grew up, we strayed over to the Deaf communities to sign comfortably and free. Our shoulders are uplifted or lifted that we are not getting tense with frustration anymore. We are really happy just to sign ASL or sign languages. We want to be in the Deaf world as it is our world, not the hearing society. Hearing people have to learn to accept us and to listen (meaning to pay attention by visual on the person who was showing signs of frustration or unhappiness). The hearing person should not ignore the child or adult if the person is not happy. But somehow hearing people don't care about that and continued to make us suffered more as we grow up.

That is why the "Post-Milan" which was started in Europe wanted to have their rights as Deaf people and wanted to continued the right to have sign language every country. Hearing people should never take the sign languages away from us when we need them very badly.

Native Americans went through the same thing and want their own languages back when the white people took them away from them. That make them frustrated and unhappy just like d/Deaf people. It was wrong for the white people and the hearing people to do that to us. They need to stop this ignorance of who we are even if we are different from them. :(
