it's the pride of every homemaker--a fancy new kitchen. But the kitchen inside a model unit at clayton homes in south wichita caught the fancy of thieves.

"it's very disappointing," general manager kevin mccracken says. "we had hoped to have this thing ready to show to the public within a couple of days.

The kitchen was furnished with the latest appliances along with upscale cabinets and counters. Then thieves broke in overnight and stole everything.

The appliances were black whirlpool brand. They included a side-by-side refrigerator, dishwasher, glass-top range and under-cabinet microwave. The crooks also took the stainless steel and glass range hood. They also stole the wood cabinets off the walls. They made off with everything including the kitchen sink!

Mccracken says there must have been more than one person, and they must have had a truck. This was no five-minute job. He says the heist must have happened sometime between 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.

"we came in, and the master lock was cut off the front gate, so we knew something was wrong," mccracken recalls.

The missing appliances, cabinets, counters and sink, along with all the damage add up to several thousand dollars. Police say the thieves may have stole it all for themselves or to sell.

people work hard for things so unfair these poor people
 
People can't work for their own crap so they have to go steal other peoples... so terrible! :mad:
 
You would think a burglar alarm had been installed too , this was like taking candy from a kid. Come on no one is living there and no alarm system was set up. Not to bright for the people. I heard of some people moving into their new home and left everything in boxes and decided to stay at a hotel for the night. When they got back to the house the next morning everything was done. Some burglar came with a truck and cleaned the house out .

Im looking at it ( a contractor/remodelers view) and it looks more like they just tore it all to hell ( no useable cabinets were taken as you see the side/back/bottoms laying on the floor. The sink IS gone, just a few cabinets remain. They didnt take their time removing them as stated, those were ripped apart. Yeah the appliances, range hood they could sell, the cabinets... they were useless whatever they took, look the counter tops are even there and damaged... Hammer and prybars were used, didnt use a driver at all.
