What do you recommend someone when they look for a budget friendly smartphone? I am due to upgrade mine, but it's overwhelming the options out there. I am not able to be on a payment plan. Just use it with WiFi access. I think I saw a monthly plan of 15 dollars a month. Reading reviews is overwhelming so I procrastinate. Will not pay more than 150 for a smartphone but would prefer it be under.
 
I despite carrier contracts, no seriously I do, it gets harder to upgrade to a new current smartphone while being struck on 2 years contract. Of course, that was then, today you still pay for a monthly payment for smartphone and upgrade at any time as long you pay for the previous in full, you are still being locked in.

I own a Blu Vivo 5 which is excellent unlocked smartphone specs wise for under $200, it runs on Android. Slap it with a prepaid service. I'm planning to upgrade to Vivo 5R or keep the 5 (cracked screen but repairable).

Other than that, I don't know how else to help you.
