Whoever is thinking about get cochlear implant or before get the cochlear implant. Were you afriad to tell your friend who is deaf? Do you feel sometime the cochlear implant can be porn site? Why did I choose that word, "Porn Site". You look at the website about cochlear implant.. when you see friend walk by that knew you were against cochlear implant. You just complent turn the computer off before your friend walk toward to you.

I don't know that silly question.. just wonder because I do reciving some kind of email once a while and include couple year ago. Again, sorry if that sound silly. :sure:

My Best friend , Malfoyish has CI And I am still her best friend no matter what... :)

If that is the kind of answer you had in mind...

I'm not ashamed to tell any of my deaf friends that I have a C.I. -- because they cannot tell me what to do because I'm an adult and I decided to get one. Fortunately, they have been very understanding and supportive in my decision.

I haven't had any negative feedback, but yes, there have been times where I wondered whether a deaf friend of mine would "shun" me because I got implanted. But no, hasn't happened so far and I'm growing more and more confident that it won't at all. :)

It's nice to know I have support wherever I go.

Malfoyish has CI And So does WaterRats13, and They are Still My Friends.. I never Judge them for their CI.. I love them for who they are.... :ily:

The Only thing I do not like about Ci People who Rubs it in My face Stating they are Better than me..That the Only Problem I have.. :(

But, The People I am friends with who has CI do not do that to me.. I accept them for who they are and Still Admire them. :grouphug: :ily:

I have few friends who have CI. It doesn't bother me. I sometime questioned them abt their CI. They don't mind at all. It's interested to hear their story with CI.

Yeah, it doesn´t bother me really.... I have CI friends, too... I didn´t forget you, Malyoisch. :thumb:

Like what I said other thread that I accept what they are...

I've had my cochlear implant since Feb 9th, 2004 and i love it.

Previously i had been against C.I.'s. I decided that I'd do a lot of research for about 2 years before coming up with a decision. I included my friends in this discussion and some/few were supportive.

Whoever thinks i'm stupid for getting the C.I. YOU are entitled to an opinion, but dont shove it in my face, keep it to yourself, because if you didn't, I'd be sayin' "it's my choice, not yours, fuck off.)

Thanks for answer my question. I just curious about the people reaction to discover that you were interesting cochlear implant but somehow you told your friend that you were against the cochlear implant. Sometime, my friend were reaction to hear what I am planning to get cochlear implant. However; it just a curious result smile. Appericate your time everybody :ily:

When i was in high school.. i was totally against CI.. then when my son's born.. or few months before my son's born.. i was out of curiously into CI.. researching a little bit.. till last year i was Totally curious into it and was wondering if i should get one.. and i took alot of research as i can..

I meet a gal in Green bay, WI.. she have CI. I get alot of information from her on her CI how it works etc.. was amazing.. she's my first person i ever seen it was a successful.. Most of my friends don't have CI. so i have no clue how it works etc..

My friends from High school knows i'm against.. and some knows that i will never get one in my entire life.. Till i told some of my friends that i am planning on getting CI.

so far havn't tell them all.. but on overall friends.. most of them seem supportive.. i will say 1 out of 7 people will turn against that idea.. i looked at them i thought.. hmm why they're against my option on getting an CI just for me, cuz its my choice.

*Argh* I hate this button page previous... wiped my whole page off...

*start all over again*
Before I got my CI on July 6, 2001. I informed some deaf people so they would know that I was getting one.. This one lady said to me " Do you plan to ingored us deaf people ?" I said " why would I do that, I grew up with deaf people, knew sign language for years, and I am in both world already it's no differences to stay away from deaf people.. I don't plan to ingored you all!" she was thrill and said "I will support you no matter what" So I know who are my true friends. and I know that the people who diss me because I got ci they are surely a sour people who doesn't accept the fact the world are growing better with better technology. However, I still support with many people who choices not to have CI or to have CI and I will never force them either to have CI or be straight **D**eaf person!

I've noticed that CI is now becoming more accepted in the deaf-world. Deafies are slowly but surely understanding that it's just the latest hearing aid, and it doesn't make you hearing by a mile! I think a lot of the people who are against CIs are also against people like me (people who are hoh) identifying as Deaf. I think also, that a lot of the hardcore militants are afraid that the adults who get implanted will stop socializing with the Deaf community...however, if HOH adults are allowed in the deaf community and feel comfortable identifing as Deaf, then there's no reason why implantees won't continue to socialize and identify with the Deaf community. Hey, way back when hearing aids first became popular, Deafies were against them. I bet if you went back to the '60's probaly a lot of older Deaf were against hearing aids..I bet Silent News was probaly ranting and raving about the evils of hearing aids. I wish I could read some of the old copies of the NAD Broadcaster...sure would be interesting!
However, I still support with many people who choices not to have CI or to have CI and I will never force them either to have CI or be straight **D**eaf person!
Excellent! Wendy I was wondering what your opinon was on kids who are ambigious candidates (they get lots of benifit from hearing aids) being implanted. I definitly think there are many kids who are straight off the bat, no doubt about it canidates...but what about kids who can hear quite a bit with aids? (they have good open-set sentence comprehension with aids for example) I think that potential implantees (and their parents) should research research research up the kazoo (both the pros and cons, and the sucess and failure stories too) before making a decision!
