they so cute can they be petted or tamed

absolutely not. raccoons cannot be and are not pet. these animals are either illegally kept at home or they have wildlife rehabilitation license.

do they live everywhere in States...I know this bizzare but out of curiosity would like smell a skunk

yep pretty much everywhere except NYC  I think coons got spooked by NYC rats... it's scary!

and no they do not smell like skunk but they can be stinky as they rummage thru stinky garbage

there are electronic pet doors where the pet wears a colar and only that pet can enter or exit that wears the collar, can buy more transmittors for additional pets as needed.

BUZZZZZZZZZZZ, there are some kept as pets and can be trained... need a permit to keep them in some areas. I know a few people who had them since babies

Where I live they seem to be breeding like rabbits, they are everywhere and live in the sewers. They also will kill and eat pets: a neighbors 14 year old cat was killed and eaten by a family of raccoons in my parents front yard.

Ive delt with 80 lb racoons before...they area a pain, and can be very agressive and violent..they eat cats, kittens, a friends dog was seriously chopped up by one, but he lived...bleed allot though and never fully recovered..
They can be dangerous like any wild beast..
They get big here

Many predators hunt... That's nature and we know that. This thread is a positive side of raccoons, some of us don't need to know the details how pets suffer from raccoons or whatnot. Please leave the graphic details away from this thread out of respect to some member's sensitivity.

Thanks.
