Just wondering cuz my wife is calling to answer an ad about a Dalmatian puppy that I can get for FREE tonight. If the person giving the puppies away has one, I might pick up the puppy to keep my other Dalmatian company (BTW I got my first Dalmatian for free also 2 years ago).....

How much did AD members with dogs, purebreed or mutt pay for their dogs?

I have a feeling most would likely answer free or much cheaper price than the pet shops. Last time I priced a puppy at a pet shop I was like WTF $800 and bank financing was available. I went nah forget it I can find cheaper deals on a dog in the newspaper!

Wow! Free Dalamation? if it is purebred then get it!!
I paid $200 for my pitbull from a friend that is why we got him cheap, normally they cost between $300 to $600!
You'd be surprised what kind dogs you can find at dog pounds! some of them are purebreds! cuz some people cant take care of them or something happend to them so it would be worthwhile to check them out at dog pounds, they are free except maybe you'd have to pay kind of small fee is all.

There are advantage and disadvantage about getting a free dog or paid for it.

One if you got it free then you would have to pay for the medical cover 100 percent.

Two if you paid for it then it will be cover by the pet store or shelter.

Three if you got it free then if something wrong with the dog there is no gurantee to sent it back or get the medical expenses if sick dog.

Four if you paid for it there is all/some gurantee to that and will probably pay for the medical expenses

Usually its about 250 to 500 for purebreeds in the newspaper. A bit more for females.

I don't trust pet stores neither. It's better to get via newpaper or breeder. If you don't mind having a mixed breed, go to the Humane Society -- which I highly recommend as they do need homes.

Tell that to me....My Dal just happen to love his front porch and feels like king on his own sofa that I left out on the porch for him. I used to let him have run of house til my wife made him stay outside.

Besides since getting the Dal, Im more a Dal man than any other kinds of dog.

lol whats wrong with dalmatian? i didnt know they werent a house dog. ive met a few who were deaf and they were kinda nervous dogs but friendly.

my parents bought a fox terrier puppy from the store for $200 i think. the puppy looked a lot like fox terrier until it grew twice its size (still a small dog) and its ears became floppy. so we thought its a mixed jack russell and fox terrier. maybe something else we couldnt figure out. damn the store, fooled us. but we LOVE our dog, every houseguests fell in love with my dog immediately when they first met. alex gave him more attention than me when he's around. lol

My next door neighbor's dog had 4 pups, full blooded Chocolate labs, 2 males and 2 females.. The males cost $700, all wormed and shots and have the papers. The females cost $1,000, all wormed and shots and have the papers too.
The pups's parents are full blooded (AKA (American Kennel Assoc) registered).

And my mom's best friend has 2 toy poodles on sale, 2 girls, AKA registered, and asking for $900 each.

I got my dog Copper for free.. A woman who has Copper, she died, and no one won't take care of him, so I took him and treat Copper the same thing I treat my son. He is more like my 1st baby, and I care him and take him to the vet and everything. My son ADORE him and still...

I dont buy puppy or kitty at pet store.. I tend to buy from human society shelters.. so those puppies/dogs or cats/kittens have good homes than put them sleep..
Petstores dont put sleep so they can stay there as long till someone buy them..
range price.. $50-100 already vaccianted and spayed/neutered..

UPDATE:

Well my wife called last night about the Dalmatian puppies....unfortunately all were given away, BUT today she got me a consolation prize heh...

It's a yellow Lab mutt that she got from a deafie this afternoon. Now we got 2 big boys running amok in the front yard..LOL! Besides the Lab was free since the friend had 2 puppies and needed someone to take the Lab off his hands so my wife just fell in love with the Lab and took him home.

That makes it the 2nd time we got dogs from other deafies.....

not exactly house dogs eh? then I wonder why in the old animated movie, "101 dalmations" when a guy owns a dalmation in his apartment...not much space for the dog to run around and stuff...so he must've chosed a poor choice choosing that kind of dog because big dogs are actually running dogs because they definetly LOVE to run all the time.

of course, you might tell me, "it's just a friggin' cartoon movie!" lol...

Well steel I have to agree that a Dal is too big to keep in an apt.

However Im not worrying since our house has a big yard good enough for my Dalmatian and my wife's Lab mutt to run around.

and not just the cartoon movie...watch the Live Action versions too! That why I absolutely loved dalmatians since the movies....

Awww!! I would love to take ALL the dogs from the pounds.. I cannot stand seeing or watching people putting the dogs to sleep if no one doesn't want them. it break my heart. If both of my dogs are gone, and if my son Kyler wanting a dog or puppy, we will go to the pound and look one or maybe 2 for him.
It is kind of crazy to spend around 1,000 for a puppy, but paying 60 bucks is great. I really don't care for AKA (American Kennel Assoication), but I just want to have a dog that have personalities and looking healthy and smart. If it is a mutt, who care, I would take it, and it is really cute to see 2 or 3 different breeds in 1 dog. :)
