the latest says 13 people dead, more than 20 injured and the gunman is dead.
The world gone crazy...
Terror train hero Alek Skarlatos was rehearsing for "Dancing with the Stars" when he got gut-wrenching news -- his college was under attack from the shooter who killed 13 people on Thursday.
Sources at 'DWTS' tell us Skarlatos was in the middle of rehearsals with Lindsay Arnold when he got a phone call about the tragic shooting at Umpqua Community College. In addition to the 13 fatalities, police say the shooter injured at least 20 others.
We're told Alek immediately left the studio when he got the news, and was making calls back home to make sure his friends were safe.
Skarlatos, who's an Army National Guardsman in Oregon, is studying at Umpqua CC for a career in law enforcement.
Shortly after leaving the studio, he tweeted, "Everyone send prayers out to ucc."
A few minutes ago, I was just telling TCS that I thought your in-laws lived in that area. I hope none of the victims are known to them as family or friends.Very sad....I have been on that campus a number of times over the years. Interestingly enough, my wife's family live there and her Mother and sister flew in last night to spend a few days with us......
The hospital said on Twitter that the victims were all female and between the ages of 18 and 34
I wouldn't try to guess his motive yet.Oh wow, the news said all of victims are female.

Also, this college isn't gun free zone (technically) because Oregon cannot ban citizens with CCW permit to carry guns to college.
It seems like shooter is probably anti-woman.
I wouldn't try to guess his motive yet.
Oregon is an open carry state.

I heard an interview on TV with one of the students that was in another building on campus during the shooting. He was a veteran sitting in the Veterans' Center at the college with other veterans. He and some of the others had concealed carry licenses, and were carrying at the time. When they heard the shots, they got up to go over there but one of the college staff stopped them from leaving the building for lockdown.
Almost routine these days...
Oh wow... I can't imagine about lockdown.
