Does anyone know of any deaf events or actvities in Omaha?

Yeah that's all I was able to find too. :( I was hoping someone here would have better information. Or know if there was a deaf club here like in Austin.

I've been to Omaha, Ne. a few times although I'm not really aware of what events or activities that this city may have...I do know that there used to be a school for the Deaf located in Omaha, but I believe it was shut down or closed...although, right across the border in the state of Iowa,(actually, the two cities is almost connected to one another) there's a small town by the name of Council Bluffs and there is a state school for the Deaf located there, perhaps you might have better luck if you were to venture over there and ask around...I'm sure many people there will know of several events or activites in Omaha that you would be interested to check out...Good luck! :thumb:

Deaf stuff in Eastern Nebraska

There is a deaf club in Fremont, NE which is not too far from Omaha.

I was born and raised in Lincoln , that is an hour away from Omaha. Yes there is deaf events and clubs in Omaha. There is Omaha Assoc. for the Deaf (OAD) there as well. They meet every second Saturday every month I believe.

Hey If you're in Omaha or anywhere near the Iowa School for the Deaf's homecoming is this weekend!! (oct 1st ,2nd, 3rd / 2004) It's the 150th anaverseriy of the school.

Now here's the relevent info:

There will be an alumni party saturday night I know a lot of people who diddn't go to either ISD or NSD will be there so if you sign go anyway.

you can get details here : http://www.iadeaf.k12.ia.us/

and here : http://fremontdeafclub.org/2004/09/isd-celebrates-150-years-party.html

if there is any one in Northeast Nebraska (Norfolk, Beemer, Fremont, etc) that needs a ride I can drive. so if some one is interested in carpooling let me know.

Thanks for your responces. I did go to the school for the deaf homecoming and I hope I can work it out so I can volunteer there in the spring.

I am still amazed at the lack of events here in Omaha given it's proximity to the school for the deaf in Council Bluffs.
