Hello All, I just joined today. I am 51 years old male and starting my journey into learning to sign. I am hearing but always wanted to learn. I got interested in signing when I had a deaf neighbor as a child. I learned my Abc's and a few words but did not go passed that point. Mainly cause I had no one to work with me. I live in Chicago and about to take my first ASL class. I am trying not to get discouraged before I start due to my age. I consider myself able to learn anything and spent half my life building computer networks and understanding how computers talk to each other. If anyone has any examples or learning this later in life please feel free to encourage me with examples. I think it will be worth while mainly to keep my mind busy since I no longer work in the computer field but might enter into it again. If anyone is in the area and about to start this journey you can also feel free to reach out. I wish you all well.
