Those  Nebraskans! Good thing the bill was withdrawn or we wud wind up seeing Civil War 2
LINCOLN, Neb. - A Nebraska lawmaker is so fed up with constituents crossing the state border to gamble that she proposed going to war with neighboring Iowa.

"I've been cautioned that the members of the Iowa Legislature might not take it kindly,' said Sen. Pam Brown of Omaha.

Brown's proposed amendment read: "The sovereign state of Nebraska declares a state of hostility with the sovereign state of Iowa until such a time as the state of Iowa ceases the unjust and relentless appropriation of the resources of the citizens of Nebraska."

Brown offered the amendment to a proposed constitutional amendment that would ask votes to approve casino gambling in Nebraska.

She said she offered the tongue-in-cheek proposal to get her colleagues focused on the seriousness of the issue.

Supporters of the casino measure have complained that Nebraskans spend an estimated $250 million a year at casinos in Council Bluff, Iowa, just across the border from Omaha.

Brown later withdrew the amendment.

Oh boy...

For this one I gotta tell, its different though. You will find this absurd... People from Illinois who drive across Missouri to buy cigarette cartons from "Dirt Cheap" and if police see you have more than 1 carton that was purchased from Missouri bringing it across Illinois, you will get fined for it. Illinois was complaining that people who from IL keep buying cartons from Dirt Cheap in Missouri and it hurt their business so now we aren't allowed to have more than 1 carton to bring across to IL from MO that was purchased from Dirt Cheap or will get fined for that. Dumb,eh? :ugh:

It is the same idea if you are visiting Canada, you try to buy some in duty free shops, and they limit what you can bring into the USA. In New Jersey, cigarettes are very expensive, about 4,50$ a pack. So, a carton can cost 45$. A lot of people I know drive to Delaware to buy cheaper cigarettes. It happens everywhere, I guess.

Dayum that's sooo nuts !!

Heather, it's soo sucks!! You'd have to go back n forth every week or so for a one carton. :ugh:

AHH i remmy getting two different cartons of cigs in TENN to give to someone when she was driving home. they were cheaper in TENN as opposed to MD or CA those are expensive!

It's just like flying to a country (with no laws against murder) and kill someone and come back to USA. It's still legal. :p
