Midwest Center for Postsecondary Outreach (MCPO) and the MCPO Outreach Sites, work together, primarily at an institutional level, to increase the capacity of colleges, universities, and other postsecondary institutions to attract and serve Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Center for Sight & Hearing assists MCPO by working with community centers and/or agencies; while the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and William R. Harper College assist MCPO by working with colleges and universities.
Harper College is a two year community college located in Palatine, Illinois. Harper offers a comprehensive post-secondary education which includes transfer, career developmental and continuing education. Harper serves postsecondary institutions in Illinois, Missouri, Indiana and Kansas.
The Access & Disability Services (ADS) in Harper College has created a comprehensively accessible environment where individuals are viewed on the basis of ability, not disability. Its primary mission is to empower students in gaining access to all College programs and facilities and to promote student success.
General Function
Develops and conducts technical assistance and outreach activities in consultation with the Midwest Center for Postsecondary Outreach. Supervises program staff and monitors budgetary expenditures in the Harper Outreach site. Travels and provides assistance to colleges in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Kansas.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Education: Masters required in Education, Rehabilitation Counseling or a related area.
Experience: Three years or more working in deafness-related field. American Sign Language skills required.
