Dear President Bush,

I have learned a great deal from you and understand why you would propose
and support a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage. Thank you
for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I try to share that
knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the
homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22
clearly states it to be an abomination... End of debate.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of
God's Laws and how to follow them.

a.. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and
female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of
mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you
clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

b.. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus
21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

c.. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her
period of menstrual uncleanness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I
tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

d.. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a
pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is, my neighbors. They
claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

e.. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2.
clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him
myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

f.. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an
abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I
don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination?

g.. Lev.21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a
defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my
vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?

h.. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair
around their temples, even though Lev. 19 expressly forbids this: 27. How
should they die?

i.. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me
unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

j.. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different
crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two
different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse
and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of
getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we
just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people
who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable
expertise in such matters, so I am confident you can help.

Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

"In Leviticus 25:4, it stated that I may indeed possess slaves, both male & females, provided they are purchased from neightboring nations. But odd thing is that it was applied to black (well, we did brought them into America from Africa for slavery after all, right?) and mexicans but not Canadians? If not then why not? Care to elaborate about that one?"

I replied:
"If you lived in that land during that time, that was the law. That was not the law for other times and places."

b.. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus
21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
Magatsu said:
"In Exodus 21:7, does it mean that if I have a daughter, do I have moral right to sell my daughter into slavery and make some money out of that? Is that what your moral value means?"

I replied:
"Of course not."

c.. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her
period of menstrual uncleanness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I
tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

I replied:
"That was ceremonial law that applied to the Jews. It doesn't apply to you. Even back then, it was the woman's responsibility to keep herself private during her time of uncleaness'."

e.. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2.

"In Exodus 35:2, does it mean that I can kill anyone who works on Sunday? I see many people working in Target, Yum-Yum, In-N-Out, Wal-Mart, list going on.. Is it morally correct for me to kill them because they are working on Sunday? That is totally sin! Right? If not then why not?"

I replied:
"No!"
"It is sin for you to murder people. It is also against the law."

h.. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair
around their temples, even though Lev. 19 expressly forbids this: 27. How
should they die?
Magatsu said:
"In Leviticus 19:27, I realize that many male people get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples.. If you read Lev. 19:27, you will know thus that is expressly forbidden!"

I replied:
"Are you a Hassidic Jew? No? Then it doesn't apply to you."

Magatsu said:
"So does it mean I will have to stone, stab or kill them too? If not, how should they die?"

I replied:
"No, it is not your place."

That's right, God's Word is eternal and unchanging. The world situation and culture is constantly changing, and many of today's people take God's Word and try to interpret it without placing it in proper context.

and everybody and their mother has a differant version of
just what is the proper context

And some people totally ignore context completely. That is not good scholarship.

because some people believe the bible is a load of crap written by
man without any influence from god at all

To not offend you but I wish you would speak that for yourself. Remember about Jesus's teaching to not impose your beliefs on others or judge others, social equality, rich give their money to poor (Social Security), etc...? Hence why I decided to pose as 'republican' in that topic (link) you posted above by just pick and choose the parts I liked as you people did. As old saying, 'To understand evil, become evil themselves, and they meet evil with evil in order "to understand them better"'. That's what I did and I am slowly starting to understand you people bit better (I took my friend, moderate republican's advice and that is seemingly working well for me). Oh well. And yes, that is not good scholarship, thank you for confirming my point about you people :)

Edit: Uh hu, I should be speaking that for myself as well! I just made a judgement on you which I shouldn't! :/ I apologized. Well, at least I am honest and educated enough to realize what I was doing and what I was saying to you. I hope certain people will learn something from this post which I doubt but I can hope, right?

ROFLMAO!

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Those who would support discrimination of gay people better not come around me complaining about how their own rights have been denied!

People don't have to believe the Bible, but if they use Bible verses to make a point I think it is only fair to use them accurately.

Yes, I wish the Christian Fundamentalists would start doing that!

Social Security is not the rich giving money to the poor. It is the government taking money from one group of people and giving it to another group.

Hence why I decided to pose as 'republican' ...
I'm sorry, you have lost me on that. I don't know anything about you posing as a Republican.

Who are you people?

I must say...wow.

However, I HAVE to say this.

The Bible is NOT the pure word of God anymore.

It has gone through numerous translations, revisions and re-writings.

It has gone through many biases, many personal opinions have been added, and many different points of view have been inserted.

Therefore, the Bible as we know today, IS NOT the original Word.

Remember the Bible was started in B.C. (Before Christ)...and we know it was written in an arachic language which is probably not around anymore, and if it were to be discovered, I'm sure it would be VERY different from what we know today.

You can quote as much as you want, but there will be people that will not take it as the Word of God at all. It makes for good literature, that's all.

The only thing you can be sure of is to follow your heart and to trust in the Higher Power, have faith that there is a man named Jesus Christ who came to save us.

Good luck with your interpretations of the Bible.

as much as i would love to help and debate bible... however.. i made a deal... with God... he doesnt try to take anything from me and stay hell away from me... i ll leave him alone and not bother with bible. I just want to say.. simply follow your morals... if u felt its wrong.. then dont. if you felt its right.. then go for it.
