So my friend and I was walking in her neighborhood, and we saw an owner with her dog.

My friend mentions to her, I have trouble hearing, and the owner explained her dog (I'm pretty sure dog could hear) could understand some sign language. I think she said she found out by accident one day, when her dog responded to a sign or somehing.

She signed the word "sit" and he actually sat down.

I thought it was pretty cool!

Hockey94, dogs that can see naturally understand visual cues much more so than spoken cues. Their own communication is comprised of often subtle body language and various visual signals. The traditional use of spoken language in dog training actually puts dogs at a disadvantage. If you try to teach any visual signal and any spoken signal, the average dog will much more quickly understand the visual signal.
Many people sign with their dogs.

My pit bull knows words in ASL, but my dachshund is blind so he doesn't really respond to visual cues. :D
