Do you have a dash cam? I am looking for one that able to record overnight while I'm out of car. Most dash cam start running when the car engine is on. Seems it is impossible to find a dash cam that record overnight on battery, and when I'm start to driving, it recharges the battery to get ready for overnight.

I live in hi-expensive apartment, and there are about 3-5 vandalisms per week, and I am avoiding to park my car there overnights (but yeah I paid for rent...dammit!)

Wow. Some modern vehicles have 12v plug sockets (auxiliary plug socket) that can be hot live wire with ignition switch off. I don't know how much does the dash camera draw electric from battery when the vehicle sit overnight. Maybe I take a look at the dash camera's current (draw) spec later. Take care

I know they make a system that has 4 cameras and a central DVR. I dose not have an internal battery, but it has a very low amp draw. My brother has one in his semi.

I sent him an email who knows when he will email back.

If all you need is a single cam I don't see why not us a normal one and wire it into a 12 volt source that is always on. Most do not draw a lot of power ans should not be a problem if you battery is good an you drive daily.

This is the one he has http://www.dieselboss.com/camera/camera_rear_view_truck.htm and is about $1,000.

Dash cam draws the vehicle battery around 100mA (mA=milliamperes) or less. Sound good for your car. Does your car have an auxiliary power socket?

I don't think so since mostly of dash cam's battery won't last life for overnight without a score power. You can add car cigar cigarette direct to your car's battery with fuse

OR

take your car to shop to remove the relay then rewired to hot wire with fuse

OR

Jump Start. You can plug your dash cam to jump start's cigar which perfect for overnight. So when your car running then it recharge your jump start to full depend how much you drive around.

I'm all for Dashcam. I was thinking about one Deaf guy who was on Facebook Vlog giving all of us advice to get dual camera dashcam and boogieboard. (Deaf guy who drove red truck and was pulled over by Highway cops). He advise us to have it to use it at court against cop if they behave unprofessionally and disrespect deaf driver. He advise us to buy specific brand dual camera dashcam that allow you to pivot to yourself and other to side window and it is easy to use. It show split screen. It cost around $120 or something in Amazon.com.

Here's his FB page with Vlog.

Look like he had really nice Dual camera Dashcam. I would think about getting one and be able to pivot cameras to direction. Click "Amazon" link and it'll link to Dual Dashcam he advise us to.
