I'm deaf and I think that deaf ferrets should be given opportunity to learn ASL. I had a deaf friend that refused to teach her deaf ferret ASL. You can imagine how frustrating it is for deaf ferrets to be left out of hearing world.

We had a deaf ferret when our kids were young! I loved that guy, but he never really learned to sign.

He responded to foot stomps and the most basic gestures, but never attained fluency. :lol:

For the OP, the ferret was deaf due to Waardenburg and used no assistive technology. He was very happy and emotionally stable.
