Im very curious since i had a son who is hearing and myself is only deaf but his father is hearing so that mean hes Coda even if one of parent not both are deaf or not coda or might called as half CODA?

what is your thought about this as wondering what would call a child as CODA or not if only one parents are deaf not both....

Thanks!!!!

I agree. CODA applies to a child of a deaf parent, regardless of how many there are.

I'm curious, why does this matter? One, both or none?

Good question. One thing I can think of is that many CODAs go on to be interpreters, and, in most Deaf communities, they gain more recognition by having grown up in a Deaf environment.

I don't know if I should have said special recognition and status. Reading back on that, that sounds weird. I edited my post a little. I hope it sounds better.

I agreed as well since im curious since its my first child and never seen called coda by one parent... i been heard most of common said both parent are deaf so the reason why i ask...plus excuse me cant i be curious
