Muncie man accused of battering terminally ill woman

MUNCIE -- A Muncie man was being held in the Delaware County jail on Monday after being accused of battering his girlfriend, who is terminally ill.

Convicted felon Brian S. Lewis, 25, 1519 S. Walnut St., was preliminarily charged with domestic battery. He was also being held for alleged probation violations.

The alleged victim was interviewed by Muncie police at Ball Memorial Hospital on Friday, when she told investigators that Lewis had attacked her after they had an argument concerning her medication.

The woman is being treated for cancer in the hospital's oncology unit.

The woman told patrol officer Jeff Lacy that Lewis was supposed to fill a prescription for her, but he was unable to find the medication. During the argument -- while Lewis drove the woman home after treatment -- she accused Lewis of trading her prescription painkiller for cash.

Upon arriving home, the woman said, Lewis carried her piggyback to the house due to her weakened condition, but dropped her onto the porch, hurting her back. She said he then continued to batter her before friends arrived and took the woman to the hospital.

The alleged victim also said Lewis had been drinking and taking drugs and had a handgun in the apartment.

Police reported finding a .40-caliber Glock handgun in the apartment the couple shared with Lewis' father.

Lewis pleaded guilty in March to pointing a firearm, a Class D felony, when he was placed on probation for 18 months by Delaware Circuit Court 5 Judge Thomas Cannon Jr.

He also has been convicted of driving while intoxicated and criminal recklessness, both in 2006, and driving while suspended, in 2005.

That turd needs to be locked up for life. What the hell is he doing out of jail in the first place? He could've killed the poor woman and left the kids orphaned.
