Have you eaten at that Denny's? This one is on the corner of 15th Ave NW and NW Market St in Ballard? At the 'big intersection'? That is where this building is.

Shame they want to tear this building down to make room for more condos. That's what Seattle needs, more condos!

Even if Ive never been in this restaurant - there's something nice about sitting in a restaurant that has good food for a good price and has been popular in the community for decades.

Our hometown cafe's are giving way to the cookie cutter chain restaurants such as Sonic, Taco Bell, Subway, KFC, Cracker Barrel, Ruby Tuesday, etc. Not that these restaurants are bad - but its the fact that its the same bland food with an impersonal service - at every single franchise.

I usually tend to skip the chain restaurants and go for the 'hole in the wall' places. There you get treated right and the food is usually tastier. Here my favorite cafe's are Feltner's Whatta Burger, Main Street Cafe' (the Belleville one), & Fowler's Restaurant. For fancier dinning, I tend to go to Italian Gardens (not to be confused with Olive Gardens), Savannah's and for the simple bar experience - I go to Chamberlynne.

Yes I ate there before. That building is one of its kind, only quite a few left in the United States. That's why they want to set it as a historical site. I honestly don't think I have seen that style before in my lifetime until I saw that place few years ago. This is one of the googie style archiecture.

Seattle is in a craze of more density, more highrises, townhomes, rowhouses which we're running out of room to build single family homes or low density housing.

When I was at RIT, Denny's was the most popular place for late-night gatherings.

If I was bored with a couple friends at 2 am, we would suddenly decide to go eat at Denny's.

The building looked spiffy in its original form.

. . . And it's not just a Denny's. The building's original occupant was a Manning's outlet, part of a West Coast coffee-shop chain that started in Seattle's Pike Place Market, which some consider the predecessor to Starbucks. "They think we're trying to preserve a Denny's but it's not about that," Forestieri says. "We're trying to get the word out there, explain the significance of how it used to be."
That building was just a coffee shop?
