This is what happened to a retired sailor who is also an American Legion member in Florida:

Vet is asked to remove vest at eatery; incident spirals onto... | www.palmbeachpost.com

A biker "gang" or club wear the name of their organization, such as Pagans, Iron Horse, Hell's Angels, etc. on their vest or jacket back in the form of a rocker patch and across the bottom their home city or state.

The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Patriot Guard Riders, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, etc. groups are service support organizations. I am surprised how many people are ignorant of the differences. Most have vests with related patches/pins.
