This is what you said that made Foxrac give you a warning you not to turn this into a political matter

Fact is, the exchange student bought insurance as is required for foreign students by most schools. And the insurance will be billed. SO....the system worked.

Granted some reform to the system is needed. But the ObamaCrybabyNannyCare system is not the answer. But it does say something about the Euro's.....doesn't have to pay a thing and he is still whining. Yeah, that's not political or anything.
My post is nothing political. It is specifically about $143 hospital bill and Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).

since this question isn't political.... I ask again - "so under your current healthcare coverage... you'll be fine in case of $143k hospital bill?"

For that question.....Yes. But the rest is most certainly political.

Are you playing game with me?

Not all insurances will cover 100%, they only cover certain percent that stated by benefit book.

I don't know about this student and their insurance coverage.

It isn't uncommon for insurance to pay in certain percent, mostly 60% to 80%.

Even though I understood Obamacare and its intention. Right now the medical cost is on runaway right now. It has been out of control since Nixon Partially de-regulated medical industry back in 70's. Ever since these event, Health insurance has been increased double digits percentile. Mind you, medical cost has skyrocket, and this has to get in control somehow, otherwise there will be windfall.

The point here is that this poor guy got bite by rattlesnake, if the health insurance become requirements, and everyone pays health care, his medical bills won't be that high because everybody pays for them. Unfortunately not everyone pays, ending up some without health care got care without paying a penny, who is going to foot these bill? Those who pays insurance, is that justifiable? I don't think so. I personally support universal health care.
Who are you refer to? me or TXgolfer.

I don't want my thread turns into extreme political that leading to countless debate so I just want to be low profile, that it.

Oh my, this thread turned into adult playground with all debate.

Now, you are free to debate about political, healthcare, etc whatever you want.

My rule isn't work anymore.

Have fun.

Not sure why you keep repeating that. You made it. Lear the this thread is about the student in the article. The student in the article survived and is not going to be billed....according to the article. So, this is good news.

If his insurance pay 100% so it is great.

If not then hospital will have to write off if they don't want bill any remaining balance to patient.

Pretty no difference from person to other person whoever have insurance.

This article doesn't include about final one after insurance pays.

I'm getting little frustrated now because I'm trying to clarify to make you understand, however it is not agree or disagree. It is all way for how insurance works.

yes.... you were heckling around.

shame that nobody can even abide by a simple rule of conduct. for that, I guess there's no need for me to stick around since nobody's interested in having an intellectual conversation about this without resorting to politicization and flaming.

Sorry, that's not end of story. You don't get it.

1) Patient receives medical treatment

2) Patient gives insurance information to someone who register

3) The hospital bill to insurance company to make payment

4) The hospital receives payment from insurance company

5) The hospital make change the balance after insurance paid all or some.

6) If balance is all clear because insurance pay 100% so they don't bill any remaining balance to patient, it is known as OUT OF POCKET. - All done...

but... if balance isn't clear, especially only pay 80% of $143,000 - means $28,600 to left.

7) It is up to hospital to write off - all of balance or just some part.

8) All final bill with updated balance after insurance and hospital write off covered so will send to patient so it is their responsible to pay out of pocket expenses.

Now, the article doesn't say about out of pocket expenses so they are currently BILL to insurance company right now.

My aunt is director of nursing and I learned from her about how insurance works.

Oh yup, the forum is getting more loosen now than before.

Nothing like 2005 and 2006 that where members got banned for trolling, provoking, enticing, bashing, flaming, etc.

Now, not much anymore.

O, Thats right yeah TXgolfer.

Seriously, this is political issue. If you want changes, it has to go to political process, right?

I know you want to stay low, if staying low then I bet your ass that nothing will change.
