GENEVA, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Russia beat Canada 2-1 in the final to win the gold medal at the world ice hockey championship on Sunday.
The Russians defended their title in a rematch of last year's final despite conceding an early goal by Canada's Jason Spezza.
Russia leveled on a power-play goal from Oleg Saprykin in the first period and got the winning score from forward Alex Radulov late in the second.
Canada dominated the shot count and Russia's Ilya Bryzgalov made 37 saves. Dwayne Roloson made 15 stops for Canada.
