Yeah, I heard about that earlier this evening while I was watching the Kentucky Derby on the TV.

I was told that 4 employees got injured and was taken to the hospital.

It's fortunately that no one was killed in the training stadium. When the lights on the ceiling goes down, it would have hit anyone and cause more serious injury. It's a miracle that only at least 4 people were injured in this ordeal.

Yeah. I saw one video on television.

I looked online and saw more videos of it actually happening.

Pretty shocking. Lucky that no one died. Whew!

Air bubble won't do it good especially in the tornado belt... wondered why they built it there. Just that it's good nobody is seriously injuried or killed.

Here's just an upadate...

Now it is 12 injured people and one of them is a special team coach who suffered a broken back.

Cowboys scout paralyzed after canopy collapse

A Dallas Cowboys scouting assistant suffered a broken back and has been permanently paralyzed after the collapse of the team's practice canopy during a heavy thunderstorm, the Cowboys announced Sunday.

Rich Behm, 33, was one of three Cowboys staffers seriously hurt when the storm struck their practice facility Saturday afternoon.

Behm's spinal cord was severed by a fractured vertebrae, paralyzing him from the waist down, the team said in a written statement.

"To the Behm family, we extend our love, comfort and the full support of every person and resource within the organization," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said.

"Rich is a courageous member of our family and someone for whom we care deeply. We ask for all friends and fans of the Dallas Cowboys to join us in embracing him and his family with their thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time," Jones said.

A total of 12 people were hurt when a severe thunderstorm knocked down the air-supported, metal frame structure that covered the team's practice field. About 70 people, including more than two dozen of the team's rookies, were in the facility when it was blown down.

Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis had a fractured cervical vertebra, while assistant trainer Greg Gaither had two broken bones in his leg, the team said.

A line of heavy thunderstorms was moving through the Dallas area at the time, but no other damage to buildings was reported, said Mike Adams, a dispatcher for the Irving, Texas, Fire Department.

Arnold Payne, a photographer for WFAA, was shooting the Cowboys' practice session Saturday when rain began falling "tremendously hard."

"I noticed the walls started to waver ... and then I noticed that the lights that were hanging from the ceiling started to sway, and it wouldn't stop," Payne told CNN. Shortly after that, he said, "It was as if someone took a stick pin and hit a balloon."

Payne said Cowboys staff photographers were up in the metal framework beneath the canopy to film the practice session and "actually rode the building down with the storm."

"There was nowhere for them to go, and it fell so fast -- it just collapsed as if it was being imploded," Payne said.

IRVING, Texas (AP)—The Dallas Cowboys’ special teams coach was set for surgery Monday on his fractured cervical vertebrae after the team’s tentlike practice facility collapsed in fierce wind.

Government inspectors were on site Monday and began investigating the collapse, said Elizabeth Todd, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Officials with the city of Irving were examining construction and inspection paperwork regarding the $4 million structure built in 2003.

Joe DeCamillis was one of 12 people injured and three Cowboys staff members still in the hospital following Saturday’s accident. The Cowboys didn’t immediately return a call regarding whether surgery on the 43-year-old assistant had begun early Monday.

The most seriously injured was Rich Behm, the team’s 33-year-old scouting assistant who was permanently paralyzed from the waist down after his spine was severed. Behm and assistant athletic trainer Greg Gaither, 35, remained hospitalized. Gaither had surgery on his fractured upper and lower right leg and was expected to be released this week.

About 70 people, including 27 players attending a rookie minicamp, were in the structure when the storm hit. Wind in the area was clocked at 64 mph, 1 mph shy of the threshold for a weak tornado. National Weather Service officials said a “microburst” may have pushed the wind beyond 70 mph at the top of the structure that was built in 2003.

Behm, DeCamillis and Gaither were standing on the field when the $4 million structure gave way, sending debris such as the framework and lights crashing to the ground.

Most players at the minicamp were drafted the previous weekend or signed as undrafted rookies, but none was hurt. No veterans were involved. Coaches, support staff and media were also in the no-frills building, which is essentially a 100-yard football field with a few more yards of clearance all the way around. The roof was 80 feet high.

Media were restricted from the Cowboys headquarters through at least a week because of “ongoing work that is scheduled to take place in the aftermath of the accident.”

OSHA investigates workplace accidents and has six months to make a report. Todd said a report could come sooner depending on the complexity of the case.

Yes, He was at Kentucky Derby when it happened.

I was watching the Derby on TV and that is when Bob Costas (the sports anchor for NBC) was having a quick interview with Jerry Jones just right before the horse race began. That is how I found out about what happened.

It happened not too long before the Derby began.

That looked so scary at that moment to watch the facility collapse:shock:
