Breaking News: Tigers' Legend George Kell Has Died

A former Detroit Tigers' player and announcer has passed away.

George Kell, 86, originally of Swifton, Arkansas died Tuesday morning.

Kell played third baseman for the Philadelphia Athletics from 1943-1946, Detroit Tigers from 1947-52, the Boston Red Sox 1952-54, the Chicago White Sox from 1954-56 and Baltimore Orioles 1956-57 in the American League.

After he retired, he worked as a play-by-play announcer for several television networks and ball clubs, including the Tigers from 1959-1996.
