The Great One would be Wayne Gretzky of Edmonton Oiler fame, and he later played for the Los Angeles Kings, then St. Louis Blues and finally New York Rangers.. he now is coach of the Phoenix Coyotes (which happen to be my old beloved Winnipeg Jets!!!!) and I beleive Wayne is part owner as well...

Yeah good thing the Penguins didnt go to Kansas City or Las Vegas..the Penguins will have a new arena to be ready by 2010-11 season I believe.. it orginally was to be ready for 2009-10 but was pushed up due to constructoin issues (weather problems and others)....... also the Penguins were supposed to go to Winnipeg (no joke!!!) as we do have the new arena here....maybe one day we will welcome the NHL back to Winnipeg but we can do with the AHL Manitoba Moose!!!

Yes, Winnipeg or Quebec deserve NHL team back due best fans that I saw ... I remmy whole of Jets / Nords fans wore white shirt to support their teams against oppisite during playoffs. I didn't mind Whalers moved out of Hartford cuz of fans were not strong fan base of NHL...but felt sick to see them to win The Cup ... not about fans ... it was about greedy owners who asked too much to state of CT after they gave Whalers owners tensomething million dollars to help their finance out. Unfontunaley that was about business is business.

I don't think there will be new expanion team for next ten years what NHL comissioner say no more expansion teams for at least 5-10 years expect the team(s) move to another city

Nashville had been mention about selling their team last year.

I knows Bruins will never move to another city or would be riot since Marice "The Rocket" Richard's riot over his suspensed for rest of playoffs after he punched ref during Habs vs Bruins brawl with few regular games lefts. Evenflly, he was back to lead his Habs to win The Cup five in a row before he retired.

I guess you might watch "The Rocket" : Legend of Marice Richard" movie, NS?. "The Rocket" Richard was really s.o.b. tough but greatest player while he was NHL's target all years. He is Montrealers' "God" behind their Notre Dame Church (largerst church in North American).

BTW, which hockey movies what you think at best. I thought "Slap Shot" and "Miracle" were great hockey movie. "Youngblood" was good. "Slap Shot 2" was awful. "Mystery, Alaska" was fun to watch.

Hockey movies list : Hockey Movies : Movies About Ice Hockey : List of Hockey Movies ... I will check them out to see if they got in my Netflix.

Well yes Winnipeg and Quebec City deserves to have NHL teams back there...Winnipeg do have an advantage over QC... that is the new arena already built ... if QC can get a new arena to replace the Colisee then all would be good.... yeah no expansion for a long while unless there is relocation issues... I wonder what if Nashville had lost the Predators? That would have been something..... I bet the Florida Panthers might be mentioned on the move as well as the Atlanta Thrashers... who else might be mentioned for moving? That would be interesting....

Ya wont have to worry about the Boston Bruins moving as I dont think the NHL would be happy to see that happen and beside, the Bruins are one of the 6 Original teams and that they have a lot of traditional rivalries with Montreal, NY Rangers, Toronto, Detroit and Chicago but have other rivalries that have been built up over the years with Buffalo, Pittsburgh and others...

As for the movie "The Rocket" I did rent the movie and was impressed with how everything had gone on back in the 1950s with Richards coming up and then leading the Habs to Stanley Cups and yes that now imfamous Montreal riots during the 1954/55 season....Maurice was the idol of all Quebeckers and French populations as well... and enemies of the English groups as well as the NHL president Clarence Campbell... and more.... but I do respect the Rocket for what he has done over the years... did ya know the Rocket was originally the first coach of the WHA Quebec Nordiques?? For only 2 games and then he quit!!! wow.....amazing eh...

I have seen the original "Slap Shot" and that was hilarious as ever.. the 2nd SS movie I have on tape but havent seen completely.. will let ya know what I think of that 2nd movie.....and "Miracle", I have on dvd and watched it all and was impressed as well.... I think I saw "Youngblood" but cant remmy if it was on tv or rented... "Mystery, Alaska", I havent seen at all but will have to find a dvd movie to rent and watch and see for myself.....

One more thing.. I do have a autographed glossy picture of Wayne Gretzky sent to me when I wrote a letter to him years ago while he was with the LA Kings... it is a priceless one for me to keep after all these years..and I do have an autoographed Teemu Selanne (Winnipeg Jets) card as well autographed Randy Gregg card (he was a doc in the offseason and one of my sister in law's young sister used to be secretary for Dr Gregg in Edmonton!!) and a few other things....heh...

Gee, NY ranger is trying too hard to beat Penguins! Unbelieveable, Penguins hit 5 out of only 17 attempts shot on goal while NY Ranger made only 3 out of 39 attempts shot on goal!

NY ranger is now on brink of elimination, Next few games will only tell... NY Ranger MUST win next 4 games or kiss it good bye.

Penguins still rocks!

Yeah I was speechless when Pittsburgh scored 3 goals in a row and then Ne York scored to tie Pitt and then bam Pitt score the last 2 goals to win... wow I wonder how the Rangers will fare on Thursday?? HMM I bet Pittsburgh will ensure they do the sweeping fast enough and rest up somehow....

Folks... next update...

Western Conference...

Detroit has brought out the brooms and swept Colorado out in 4 straight games.. and Frazen has set a new Detroit record for most goals in a series with 9.. he broke the record held byGordie Howe who had scored 8 goals in a series....

Now Detroit will have to wait for either Dallas or San Jose to show up for the Western Conference Final... I think Dallas will have to end the series tomrrow night for Game 5 in San Jose... will wait and see... btw Dallas leads 3 games to 1...

Eastern Conference..

Pittsburgh couldnt get the brooms out for the sweep as New York won 3-0 in Game 4 to stay alive..but will this series be over this Sunday or what?? Pitt leads 3 games to 1...

Philadelphia has a chance to end the series vs Montreal on Saturday night.. Philly leads 3 games to 1 but Montreal will sure want to win to try for Game 6 to win as well and force Game 7...... should be fun...

It took too long to get Stars finish the game last night. It was so late! *yawn* Gosh, I am so tired. Rawr!

Uh-oh, Red Wings is 3-1 against Stars in regular season. It wouldn't that good. Hope they change new position against on Red Wings. go Stars Go!

Yeah Dallas has ended that marathon 4th overtime period game with a 2-1 victory vs San Jose and now will face off vs Detroit for the Western Conference title... as we know already, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia will face off for the Eastern Conference title..

here the history....

Western Conference

Detroit Red Wings @ Dallas Stars (do remember Dallas Stars used to be the Minnesota North Stars before the 1993 move to Texas)

1992 Detroit 4 @ Minnesota 3 Norris Division Semifinals
1995 Detroit 4 @ Dallas 1 Western Conference Quarterfinals
1998 Detroit 4 @ Dallas 2 Western Conference Final

Detroit figures to be well-rested and waiting for the weary Stars to stumble into Motor City for Game 1 but would that work? I think Dallas will be still on high energy and surprise Detroit for sure.....

Eastern Conference

Philadelphia Flyers @ Pittsburgh Penguins

1989 Phil 4 @ Pitt 3 Patrick Division Finals
1997 Phil 4 @ Pitt 1 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals
2000 Phil 4 @ Pitt 2 Eastern Conference Semifinals

Will Philly and Pittsburgh get on it in a fierce way and ramp it up good? This series gonna be something to watch and fun... will Sid the Kid get mad as hell and pummel some rotten Flyers or will Downie that pain-in-the-ass pest piss some Penguins off?? OOOOO!!!
