How to teach to read a deaf child?

anybody knows what's the best way to teach a HOH/Deaf child to read?

When I was a preschooler, my parents got a series of books, each about a letter and words starting with the letter. They came with cards with the word on one side and a picture of the thing on the other side.

great thanks! i'm doing a research about this topic. I want to know different experiences... did you know how to sign before learn to read?

Yes I did. I went to school since 3 months of age.
