"Fiji became independent in 1970, after nearly a century as a British colony. "

wait a minute I'm confused - are you looking for the SL used in FIJI ... or just the ASL sign for FIJI ???

In ASL - I just spell it "FIJI"

the same way as you'd describe some oneone with an affro hairstyle, those big and round shapes (like a spongy helmet)
both arms held up high with hands opens, fingers shaped like holding those big studio headphones and shake it as so you're rustling your fingers in their big, fluffy hair and 'lipread' FIJI......
thats we do it

I use two handed finger spelling for "F" tapped the F and move it around circle like a island.

In Auslan, we fingerspell Fiji. But sometimes we use description such as island so a person would get the general idea.
