Hey guys! I was wondering if there is anyone out there who would like helping me out with ASL. I have tried looking for classes, but wasn't successful. The only one I could find starts in late September and I already signed up. It is an introductory class, so I'm guessing it won't be that different from watching videos on youtube. I can't really afford to pay a private tutor and that's why I'm trying to take advantage of whatever I can find. I have started Dr. Vicar's lessons but having no one to practice with doesn't really help. I know that trying to teach someone with absolutely no prior knowledge of a subject is a daunting task. If you can and want to teach me, I'd really appreciate it. If you know of any groups or regular meetups I could attend so I can practice and learn more of the culture, it would be of great help. I'm not really sure what to give back, but my native language is spanish, so we could work some sort of tandem thing out.

Anyway... I hope to hear for you guys soon and thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum, fellow IL member. You may want to try out Deaf Expo in Palatine, IL this coming November? It's at Harper College which has a deaf program there

Thank you for welcoming me! Also, thanks for the info on the deaf expo, I will certainly check it out. It sort of sucks how they used to have an ASL program at the local college, but not anymore. I guess youtube will have to do for now :P

Or you could ask either myself or another ADer who lives in Illinois (he lives nearby) for help, as we're both experienced ASL users ourselves.
