Hi, I'm just learning ASL and I'm wondering what the MUST KNOW signs are? what ones are most useful?

I learned "OK" today, and "cool" as well as "shame"(which I learned after forgetting cool...LOL)

I'm having a great deal of fun learning this language, I understand it better in some ways, I mean many of the signs are very logical like cat and dog

I suppose cool isn't really a need to know so much as bathroom... or something along those lines.... I would think words that you think someone learning English would find useful would be useful to someone learning ASL just the same....

I consider them all must know. Why? Because its not redundant like English. Important ones for forming concepts would be questions, why, what, how, when, where. Then need, know, think, question. Same, similar, different. Food, water, sleep, bad, hungry, tired, good. Sorry, please. The various levels of each of these. Your is probably starting with these, if you're not in an immersion class, I suggest it, It's the best way to learn a language.
Here, is a site, you'll find more resources as you go along. Good luck.
100 first signs: American Sign Language (ASL)

When I first started learning, I think the most indispensable signs for me were AGAIN, SLOW, and MEANING. These helped me learn so many others, but ultimately different signs are useful in different contexts. ^_^
