Sorry I am new at this! I am going deaf and trying to learn ASL. I have a webcam. Is there a delay in time with a webcam?

I like this idea, Bott, no webcam though...

Megs, is that little IG or Chi in your pic?

I have both Skype and ooVoo.

I would be more than happy to set up a weekly ASL chat for those who want to practise with an ASL fluent signer.

I'd definitely be interested. But it would depend on the day/time, since my work schedule is a bity crazy. I'll keep watch on this thread and see what develops. for offering to set this up!

I would like to propose Sunday at 1 pm for our first weekly ASL chat.

For those who are interested and want to participate in this; please join me for a sneak preview in the open channel as I am broadcasting live now.

Please PM me to let me know you are in the room as I am multitasking.

Sign me up too! If anyone wants to practice with me feel free to contact me. I guess you can call me a beginner because I know the basics, but I'm a fast learner and I'll be glad to help beginners! Just give me a shout.

That's an amazing offer Mrs. Bucket.

Any students here would be recommended to jump on this offer.

I'd love to participate if I can! I might be late getting in there though since I don't get home from church till at least 1pm. How long does everyone stick around for? Maybe I can pop in for a short bit before work.... we'll see if I can work it out.

But the VP won't do you any good to join a web based video chat for the group of ASL students who are hearing.

I know that my webcam also has an option for free video chat calls, but I guess I don't know much about it at all. I know my P3 will connect with other VP's. Maybe I just don't understand enough.

Just figured out what you meant - you're right - a VP wouldn't. silly me.

chatting via webcam

I would love to chat via webcam. I am in the interpreter program at my community college here on Long Island. I am always looking for people to practice with.

I personally think that the video chat through gmail is the best one. The picture is clear and there is minimum, if any, delay. But I am willing to use whichever one you want.

Looking forward to chatting,
Julie

I have a new web cam! For those of you considering getting a web cam, I got the Logitech Pro 9000. The video quality is excellent and it was easy to set up. Cost runs about $100.

I've got P3 and Skype. I'm ready to join in.

Somehow I missed the previous plans. I'll watch here for more info.
