Deaf Karaoke
Has anyone got experience in this ?
how do we improve the sign-song-singing, geeez it hard, i tried it last night the deaf club, i felt stink, lol but at least i tried..... oone out-of-towner visits last night damn she was GOOD, flows, catchy and i was quite stunned yeah thinking about asking to set up a Karaoke group (or join if they already have one local - doubt it though) for practices because i think they have this once a year competition... damn Im deaf, not a HOH which some Deaf thinks i am. any ideas, hints would be grouse, i dont want to only 'watch' you-tube stuffs, indeed that does help but i want to see if there anything worth reading so is thjere any good links? Its like because I want to know what bad habits to avoid and hints on how to keep the flow when karaoke strange wordy songs.... im just so fascinated and really want to impress later by Christmas time after some several good hours of practice, it would be nice to making some smiles Does anyone know a really good song that makes me people think as well being not too difficult to master please do let me know what titles to consider, please let me know Cheers

I love doing Karaoke! In fact a girlfriend filmed me doing one of "Every Breath You Take" by the Police - and nope, Im not going to put it on YouTube!
The only thing is that it is hard to find a decent karaoke spot! Most are really creepy spots. I dont mind getting silly over 80s music! I think Grummer means deaf karaoke is where deaf people sign, not voice to the lyrics on the screen? When I do karaoke, I sign, not voice - I bet I would make everyone run screaming out of the club or resturant if I attempted to use my voice

but yeah i meant signing karaoke. not the jokey variety you see on the you tube, no i meant actually graceful song-sign-ing, its very moving, beauitiful i was awestruck when i saw this women did it last week, also so good that i nearly good smtten, like "hell, i want a girl/chick just like her- she's fantastic' she really epresses her sexuality (im not kidding and no one disspproved (bt that's another story I would post this on another thread), her emotions, her very visual smiles not too obvious but it ws good, body smiles, almost innocent like too i mean like as if she's your best freind as if i have known how to sign all my life (which i haven't and am not very good at signs) just wish there was more 'intellectual' deaf around my area while knowing how to fit me, guide me into the signing world properly. She amazed me, and later on that night i was kind of really depressed, even suicidial that I have indeed been stolen from the signs for my entirety of my life, like i couldnt bear it. I also observed most other 'deafer than me (-deafer than thous types) cant even do it (ok granted they hd no practices like she said, but she was evasive about how or where did she practiced from- blah), they all try to sign as in word for word... almost slipping into their TC-era 'broken english'.. (that I kinda knew some thing they didnt, and showed them! they were wee stunned, but i got worse as the songs they picked were hard to follow.....dang ! or so karaoke looked so easy its NOT!, BUT at the same time i DO know its NOT that hard, just a case of getting a 'click' and therein a flow !! like magic I just know it I nearly swept that night because it was somewhat bittersweet. it was real weird hohDougRN, hardluck im not in US, and beside i dont believe in forking out alot just for lessons to reclaim my OWN language, That's crass expliotation

i absolutely love to sing... and whenever there is a chance i would go and just sing the night away. i dont care what songs (as long as its not too fast and causing me to mess up lol) and i dont care what type of songs either.
when i was like 12 i won 2nd place for karaoke singing...(was tied with first place but since she used voice and i didnt.. they chose to put me in 2nd place instead... i didnt care lol i was just happy i won something) man i miss it so much. now its getting even more difficult because not many people would sing for me while i sign... and because i have a son... so finding a babysitter for nighttime is pretty tough. |

Deaf Karoke! I refuse to sing. Absolutely refuse. So in public so I've done signed songs several times. Once, I've had a gentleman approach and tell me he knew what I really was saying and had a laugh about it. In all honestly, I fake it. I know some sign, but my ASL grammer, I just can't coordinate ASL grammer in songs off the top of my head. And I'm not an ASL dictionary yet. But it's satified all the other hearing people I've met.

Might be changing the subject here but i have a playlist on my iPod called "Sing n sign". In other words, all the songs found there are ones that i've learned to sign (prolly alot more english than asl but hey, i do the best i can). A few of the songs are:
Everybody's changing- Keane Disappointed- Morrissey Let it be- The Beatles More than words- Extreme Killing me softly with his song- Roberta Flack Can't say i'd actually perform any of these before a crowd of people..I'm too shy to even sign them around my deaf friends. I think that i'll look ridiculous.
