I was born and raised in Phx, AZ but haven't lived there in 8 years so maybe some things I put down are outdated. So anyone who is currently living in AZ, pls correct me if I am wrong..

Top 10 reasons to move there
1. Cheap houseing costs (heard they r starting to climb)
2. Low property taxes
3, job growth
4. More sunny days than rainy each year
5. Dry air
6. Beautiful mountains
7. Great Mexican food (if u like it)
8. Warm weather (depending on where)
9. Can go from desert to mountains with 2 feet of snow in 2 to 3 hours (driving)
10. My family lives there (LOL)

Top 10 reasons not to move there
1. Depending on where u live, smog problems (esp. Phx)
2. Tooooo Hot during the summer
3. Education for children is considered one of the lowest in the nation
4. High electricity bills during th summer due to AC running to keep houses cool
5. Gang problems from LA, California (gangs spreading to Phx from LA)
6. Water shortage could be a problem in the future due to urban sprawl
7. Traffic problems (depending on where u live)
8. Road rage seems more common (as of 1999)
9. Must drive far just for a day of hiking in the summer unless u live in the mountains
10. I don't live there anymore (hehehe)

Wow..so hard to think of much but iam sure people who live there will post more reliable pros and cons.

For Arizona

1. cheap cost of living (depending where you live..Scottsdale is out of your league)
2. dry air
3. less smog in Tucson (for Phx, forget it)
4. More sunny days, fewer raining days
5. Job growth (mostly in Phx, I heard Tucson is getting there now)
6. Great Deaf social life (most Gallaudetian and RIT alumnae flocked to live there)
7. the cost of food, gas, etc is cheap
8. If you wanna see mountains, go to Sedona or Flagstaff..they are beautiful
9. if you live in an apt, you get free utilities except electricity (I paid only $20 bucks a month at that time)
10. Delicious food
11. I suggest you to take flight at Tucson International Airport.. LESS WAITING LINE.. NO KIDDING!! It took me five minutes to get flight ticket, then go.

Blah

1. Traffic in Phx
2. Phx International Airport--too much hassle, security people will pry your luggage WIDE OPEN..screw them
3. TOO MUCH SMOG in phx
4. expensive area --Scottsdale.. you cant believe the prices
5. Too mexicans moved from Mexico to AZ
6. Education is the lowest in the nation
7. Gang everywhere
8. Too much DUI
9. Too much Domestic Violence due to heavily drinking
10. If you are busted, you will go to prison to do hard labor in the sun all day everyday..you will get stale water and lousy food. If you dont have money, then TOO BAD..
11. AZ Laws are too strict.. good luck
12. new car licenses/tags are too high like $500 until it will get lower as your car ages
13. too many trucks are being stolen and yes, mexicans can bring stolen trucks to mexico.. Trucks are very popular to mexicans.

I used to live in Tucson for one year and half..yes, I do miss AZ.

I wouldn't move there if I were you

I used to live in Las Vegas, the tempature is over 100 degrees, it melted my rearview mirror and it fell down, also noticed many of people's car their painted on the car melted off too also I've seen many bullet holes in alots of people's car, birds pooped on car damaged the car paint also too many traffic, too many accident, too many hit and run and too many killed in Las Vegas, shooting everywhere, we could have been shot which we used to live one block from 7 11 store someone had a machine guns shooting the 7 11 store where we used to walk there for a frozen coke and I used to stayed in Arizona, the tempature is over 100 degrees, it just a horrible experience for me...A friend lives in Texas said it's horrible there too, the pollution is so bad there many traffic, it's a nightmare for me.

Plus where ever there's a casino, people go nuts, are hateful and spiteful, sheeshh!!!

It's your choice, I can't tell you what to do, but you'll find out what's like to live in Az or Tex, there's beggers everywhere, thousands of homeless.

Agree with Oddball and Shel90

They made their points!

Las Vegas isn't cheap, we had a hard time making a living there, it didn't works out, but I nearly died in Las Vegas due to bad hot tempature also I had a very high triglycerides, I nearly died, also my cholesterol were very high too, the foods in Las Vegas are rich, but very fattening, same goes for Arizona.

I only know of one reason NOT to move to AZ. As you know, it is pretty dry there most of the year, it would be really strange for you to see trees chasing the dogs there!

yep, its dry in many parts of arizona. But, its wetter up high in the mountains which can get about 60 inches of rain annually or so. mountains generally attract clouds, lol

depends where you go. the descriptions sounds like you didn't pay attention to what you eat and where to live. all cities have bad areas, even here in seattle. don't you have anything positive about arizona?

That's good thread...

I have some reason about move to Arizona or not...

Pros
1. Affordable Real Estate, compared to other several west coast states
2. Phoenix and Tucson are growing more population
3. Cultural is goes into more diverse
4. Affordable rent properties
5. Cheaper gas price than in California and Northeast IL
6. Good climate with dry air, also low humidity
7. Road on most freeway are maintenanced and smooth
8. It seems like enjoy about lifestyle in Phoenix, Tucson or North AZ
9. There's many shopping center that can find anything
10. Alot of skate parks and other parks

Cons
1. High rate of car theft in Phoenix
2. Too many Wal-Mart (Phoenix metro) to hurt the grocery stores and small business
3. Real Estate is bubbling alot, that can be more expensive than in Atlanta metro or other metro
4. Many gangs from LA are rolling up into Phoenix for some reason, after 1992 LA riot
5. Bad school system (Phoenix)
6. Alot of sprawl are goes on and concern about end up like Inland Empire
7. Some portion of Phoenix are downhill, especially in South Phoenix and South Glendale
8. Alot of road rage
9. Not easier to grow more grass, that require more water
10. Alot of bad traffic in Phoenix

I'm suggest that need visit AZ before make a right decision to live here.

There's pros and cons about any cities in USA.

Many people have that wrong idea about AZ having no snow..in fact almost all of Northern AZ gets snow each year..averaging 2 feet. That is more snow than here in MD! There are ski resorts. Heck even Tucson, in Southern AZ, has a ski resort!

When I moved here in MD, during my first winter here, many people assumed it was my first time to see snow. I was like no...I grew up going to Northern AZ to go snow tubing each winter with my dad.

I agree...every place has good and bad parts. I live here near DC and Baltimore which are supposely the murder capitals of the country and I love living here. In the 8 years I have lived here, I have yet witness a crime happening or a shooting. Same thing goes for Phx..I have never witnessed a shooting or crime.

Just if u live in Phx, dont drive a red or blue car at night in South Phx due to gangs if that is still the case. The gangs generally leave regular people alone. Only thing I would worry about is being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

same here..I wouldnt mind New Mexico either but family lives in AZ so AZ is #1 priority if I would ever to move back to the West coast.

My last visit to Phx was two years ago and I gotta say that the designs of the new buildings are so much more beautiful than they were in my time when I was growing up. The buildings are designed to fit into the desert scenery.

Oh...another positive...lots of spas and resorts.

It does same in South Glendale but used to be ok in 90's then some old houses are filled with junkyard, also one of my friend live in nice apt in South Glendale and other shitty houses are located in other side, that's looks like odd.

It wasn't my ideas to live in Las Vegas, it was the roommate's ideas, I had no knowledge what this city is about, I got treated like SHITS there, actually I watched what I eats, hard to see what's inside the foods like the buffets also No I don't have any positive to says about Arizona either, MEAN people there and MEAN people in Las Vegas, no differences.
