Does CIA or FBI hire deaf people?

I'm just wondering about it. I'll be computer science if I am in college. I'll probably join the CIA or FBI because my major is computer science.

If you are still in college, try this Student Opportunities. Because of the classified nature of our work at the Central Intelligence Agency, the application process is a lengthy one. Depending on your specific circumstances, the process may take as little as two months or more than a year. You must have perfect GPA. Good luck...

Talking Yes of course one of deaf woman who is immigrant moved to USA and she became FBI!

She work at Washington D.C. and she been serve for FBI since 37 years now. She was flee from WW2 with her mother who is also deaf and her father is also deaf too. His father died from chamber smelling gas fume in Poland. So anyway she was at Gallaudet testimony about her life and she was immigrant to USA in 1940's and she been attended deaf school and graduated from Gallaudet and she became FBI agent work in the lab room. That is all I do aware of that and that teacher who work at America School For the Deaf told me about her and she asked for permission with her boss from FBI and she is telling testimony about her story and became FBI agent. Her boss gave her permission to let her have testimony with deaf students about herself.
It was very interested about the story and it was sad story from WW2 but she is glad she became successful with educational system and FBI agent work in the lab room.

The answer is yes, while I was in NTID back then, They do send CIA and FBI recruit to interview some for CO-OP employment and such. I am sure the same applies to Gallaudet and elsewhere..

Being deaf, and having a B.A in computer science will be a major plus and open doors for you in all fields of work.

Right now, the FBI and CIA are actively recruiting, but they tend to lean toward those with specialized skills - meaning knowledge of the Middle East or Asian cultures. I once had somebody (he wasn't a recruiter but knew somebody) ask me if I could lip-read Farsi or Arabic.

That indicates the kind of interest FBI and CIA has, if you want a good job with them. The B.A in computer science works, but you need more than that to boost your chances.

If you go to their website, they do have an internship or student program for college students and you can check out the qualifications for the kind of job you want. Generally, a good g.p.a, a B.A degree (sometimes a M.A depending on the job) and knowledge of foreign cultures. I do understand that it may be easier for some people to join the FBI rather than CIA, due to that you need to know more domestically and not foreign than you would in the CIA.

Deafness doesn't really play a huge factor if you possess the right qualifications.

I did fill out 22 pages alot of questions on secret clearance paper every two years. My criminal is very clean ! FBI interesting to hire people who have 20/20 visual. They willing pay you for eye laser to get your visual clear instead of wearing a glasses.

I would love to work for FBI as computer assisant but not involve in DNA. No way... it will make me sick to search on blood to match with other person's fingerprint and DNA.

I am not sure if this is true. I heard a story that a person is accepted by CIA as a permanent job. This person will not allowed to quit a job, and even it is very difficult for this person to resign no matter if they have a good reason.

Very rarely the deaf can land jobs in FBI and CIA and I find it highly comical to see hiredeaf.com flashing banner ads creating a false impression of the CIA is looking to recruit deaf people.

You ignore the statistics. Back up that statement with some proof, and data that provides the fact of how many deaf employees there are in FBI and CIA. Then compare that data with other minority groups in the United States, and see how much of a correlation there are between deaf and minority groups in regard to joining the FBI and CIA.

This is what remains, it is difficult for anyone (even a fully hearing person) to join the FBI and CIA. What you need are credentials, certain advanced knowledge (foreign language, foreign country knowledge, law, computer science) and the right background to get your foot in the door. This goes for anyone applying for both the FBI and CIA. After that, its a matter of security clearance, and working to impress onto them that you are a potential employee, irregardless of disability or minority status.
