Mammary cancer

I suspect that Sussi, my soon to be 19 years old (on Thursday) cat has a small mammary tumor on her breast near lymph nodes after notice something lumps. I took her to Vet yesterday for checkup and want it to remove ASAP to save her from suffering later. I love her so much as my own baby. The Vet was surprised after examined Sussi because it’s normal age for cats/dogs to have it between 8 and 10 years old and said the lump is harmless and suggest us to wait bit until lumps grow bit big then check with X-Ray in September either it’s really tumor or not. Her opinion: It’s not worthy to have it surgery or chemotherapy because Sussi might stay alive within 6 months to 1 year after surgery due her age. It’s heartbreak to let her go because I have her for almost 19 years and love her as my own baby.

I know that Sussi hate Veterinary checkups. She turned into tiger when we were at Vet. You can image she act like tiger when you tried to calm her down… Full teeth and nails shown and her ears goes down and her hairs stand like electricity shock… I haven’t take Sussi to Vet for over 10 years until yesterday for a first time. The Vet was surprised and said that Sussi is well and healthy.

Share your experience with your pets who have mammary tumors? I need feedback that I can help Sussi.

My dog Copper had a BIG tumor growth under his armpit (front leg (by where his heart is) and I took him to the vet and ask if he can remove, the Vet said he can remove, but it looks like it is fatty tissues, but he ran some test to see if it is cancerous or not. He said it is not cancer, but it is tumor growth, he said he can remove, but it will cost $1,200.00 to remove. I wish I have the money, but I need the $1,200.00 for my boy's need (asthma) and I have to make the choice which is more important, my son or the dog? If I am rich and have that kind of money, I would be able to save my dog.

So far, Copper is alive and the vet said he would live to another 8-10 years, and the tumor is not cancerous. So I don't have to worry about anything but I will be able to feel his tumor under his armpit when I pet or bath or brush him.
