What is your opinion about tweakers? If you’ve never heard the word ‘tweaker’ before, it means somebody who is a regular and heavy user of crystal meth.

Personally, I think they are the lowest form of scum there is, and I wish they could all be locked away into large prison camps. Some people think the answer is legalizing crystal meth, so that addicts won’t have to resort to crime to get what they need. And other people are in favor of treating it as a medical problem, and hospitalizing them until they recover.

What are your experiences with tweakers, and what do you think should be done about the problem?

Let them kill themselves... we can't make them stop.
Why waste money on putting these tweakers in jail.

I vote Do nothing... because it is their body...

If my children do that, I'll beat the hell out of them.

Ah I dont involve in this kind but my experiences with ppls (when I lived in Hawaii) and there alot of ppls been taking it and got serious problems. While I was in Hawaii I kept seeing ppls who took it and got trouble. When they got into trouble and they agreed to get help with it because of the kids' sake. Its my opinion that they would get some help to prevent getting further...

ugh dont get me started on meth....I'm so sick of seeing meth busts going on DAILY printed in the local paper.....

The main problem is most of the time easy access to common household chemicals and cold medicines needed for making meth that could be picked up at any store.

I believe strict parents...
Just like Jewish parents be strict to their kids...
And their kids always be successful.

So I think it is good to be strict with your kids...
and make sure they stay on the right
path.

I have not had specific experience with a meth user exclusively, but I have dealt with a drug abuser before, and it was hell. He was into a lot of crap, but coke was his drug of choice. He also probably did meth; along with weed, PCP, and pills. I also suspect that he tried heroin.

I struggled through two years of his addiction before he sought treatment, but that didn't last long. He soon relapsed, and took up crack cocaine. He spiralled even further from there, and eventually committed suicide.

My personal opinion is that drug addiction is a disease that needs to be treated. I understand how people feel about drug abusers, because, their addictions cause their love ones alot of pain. I'm one of the ones affected by someone's addiction, so I do get the resentment. However, I don't think contempt for these people helps. In fact, I think it hurts. People who are addicted feel the pain they have caused others. They know it. Unfortunately, it's the guilt that often keeps them in their addictions, and the cycle continues until the drug abuser dies from their addiction or commits suicide.

I wish I could say I have all the answers. I don't. All I can do is, say I know how it feels to be affected by someone's addiction. And, try to understand as I go along. That's all I can really do.

Well, MsP, I knew someone who did kill himself as a result of drugs. Its sad when someone's life is affected by drugs, and I really think what is needed is a dose of compassion for these people. It's true that one can only take so much, and if the person doesn't want to clean themselves up, it's on them. However, that doesn't mean you stop caring. I can tell you that I never stopped caring for my friend. I loved him to the day he died, and I'll continue loving him to the day I die!

I want people to help people who want help...
just like me and you and others...

But I don't want to help people who won't
get help and refused to do it....
Cause it is a waste of time.

If my children won't live in right path,, rather do drugs or
be gay or something llike that... I will tell them to leave
my house....

I did the same thing to my dad,,, if he won't clean himself up, I had my
phone blocked on him... and then he wanted help, so I help....
I ain't gonna put up with anybody fooliness.

The doctor who took care of my mother while she was pregnant with me, and who made the wrong diagnosis of me when I actually had a life-threating heart condition, commited suicide because of drugs a year later after I was born. He blew his brains out in his own office after calling his wife and told her he was going to kill himself. She called the cops and the cops came too late to save him. But that was a long time ago - in 1970....back then they didn't have any drug treatments.
So, I don't think we should stop caring for the person, just like his wife did who was in a panic mode calling the cops...we should help them so they won't end up like what this doctor did.....yes, it is up to them to clean up, but we should help them too, and tell them that suicide doesn't solve the problem.

It is out control, and it is very easy access for people to find anything like glue, petrol, paint, white out (pen erase) or any household chemicals to sniff.

Well that is why I said,,, to don't help them, because people
will find other stuff to get high on...
and there is nothing we can do....

Oceanbreeze and Nancy, there is nothing we can do,
so don't blame yourself to prevent them from killing themselves.
See you guys tried to help these people...
but fail....
so why help people when they will kill themselves anyway???

Yeah, you have to turn your back on Alcoholics and Drug Addicts..
I know it is painful... to do so... because I learn from Psychology...
You have to turn your back on them...
Because those people will stop doing drugs and realize that
they are alone and will hate the drugs and come back get help.

It is sad that your love ones chose drugs over you...

[x] Educate them

They obviously don't know what the hell they are doing... :nono:

Education is a step, but it takes more than knowing about drugs. Many people know about drugs, and the harm they cause, but they become addicted, anyway. What is needed is better access to mental health care, and a better understanding of what these people go through in their daily lives. Many times, a person is addicted to substances because, they are trying to numb out unbearable pain or trying to forget. Until we adequately address the underlying causes of addiction, it will continue.

When you can tell me you know what it feels like to live with the knowledge that someone you love laid down on train tracks, then, you can preach to me. Until then, keep it to yourself. You don't have a clue.

well I hope and pray that I don't ever
be around people like that.

My dad's Uncle, he was missing for years....
and died.

My cousin, she doesn't do drugs anymore.
But she helped herself.

My cousin's girlfriend who abandoned
his baby...
And I saw her at the store... begging me
for money... and I gave her a few dollars and left.
She didn't have no teeth.... and she was soo beautifulll and now
her face was messed up.
And I saw her last year, she cleaned herself up and stayed away from drugs.

Anyway, if these people want help, they gotta help themselves.

Yeah, it's a mental illness but it's also completely avoidable. Just don't get into drugs in the first place! I think that we should focus on the aspect that although a drug can make you feel good it also can hurt you. Sort of like the way presciption medications can make you feel good, but can also cause side effects!

crystal meth or other wise known as ICE here on this island ( hawaii also) thier doing HEAVY crackdown on that and now we have stricter medical distrubtion and higher security now around the RX stores here... thank god cuz thier deffy going heavy on them and fast too! Dog Chapman's son is in prison for the ice distrubtion got 18 yrs he'll be out in abt 5 i think he's already served some time so far. and dog said this Ice is the deadliest killer that wrecks familes. So i would Deffy advocate one thing. get the dealers off the streeets make them do time, get the abusers ( the addictions) in rehab and clean up thier life, my partner is an ex ice user and shes been sober for 3 yrs now and is staying this way, im so proud of her and so happy shes on the wagon and very mature enuff to know when no is no, and shes only 24 and that can mean alot to many poeple!

Abusing does not get them start on the right path, It makes the mother lose their children. Beating the crap out of them doesn't get you anywhere or the children anywhere, Wanna end up in prison Miss*P?

Anyways back on topic: Yes, They should be locked up for using crystal meth, I don't see the point of using drugs would make your life going in the right direction, It only going to make their life going backwards or the edge of the cliff. :thumb:
