I heard there is an option to have cable speed access on Sidekicks (the normal speed most Sidekick users use is 56K), so I won't be surprised if they add a videophone later on.
I like to think I have a good pulse on technology updates, especially when it comes to wireless technology. It's part of my job, after all.
If you could be so kind as to cite your source, I would like to do my best to believe this rumor has any chance of being true. The question begs, what possible use could a Sidekick user have with high speed access? Email, AIM, SMS, etc. don't NEED high speed data access. Video tech does, yes.
In order to use "video technology" three things need to happen.
1) The phone needs to have a processor capable of processing video streaming.
2) The phone needs to have a video screen capable of outputting video clearly enough for a person to see on it.
3) The phone network needs to be fast enough to download (and/or upload) video fast enough for the person to communicate efficiently.
I just don't see T-Mobile having the resources for this. Cingular, Verizon, and Sprint are the only three that I know that have plans to roll out any kind of technology that could POSSIBLY take advantage of this. I.e., Sprint has announced their EV-DO technology roll out -- right now, you can download clips of sports games to watch on your phone. It's not real time, and they don't expect that to happen for another year or two. That's only downloading, and being able to do it BOTH WAYS in REAL TIME will be a technical nightmare to work through.
Please give me a source where you've seen the rumor of Sidekicks or even T-Mobile having this kind of "cable internet" access.
