KFC is said to have a lot of "finger-licking" items on its menu, and now the fast food eatery can add "finger-licking" coffee cups to its spread, USA Today reports.

KFC is testing out 100% edible coffee cups. "Scoff-ee Cups" are made from a special, wafer-like biscuit, then wrapped in sugar paper and lined with a layer of heat-resistant white chocolate. KFC spokeswoman Jocelyn Bynoe says the chain has been experimenting with edible packaging for a while, and it recently decided to test the cups out in some stores in the U.K.

"If our customers occasionally like to have their cake and eat it," Bynoe told USA Today, "why wouldn't they want to have their cup and eat it, instead?"

Right now, it's unclear how many calories are packed into the edible cups. Darby Hoover, Senior Resource Specialist at the Natural Resources Defense Council, said the cups are mostly aimed at environmentally-minded Millennials.

"Companies that make these packages have an obligation to help ensure those packages aren't wasted," Hoover said. "Edible packaging has the potential to be a meaningful part of that opportunity."

There are no plans yet to make "Scoff-ee Cups" available in stores in the U.S. KFC wants to make sure, with its testing in the U.K., that the cups work perfectly every time.

Hmmm, saves on the dish washing anyway! I don't see those coming into use. Just another crazy idea.

If people ate their coffee cups there would be less littler thrown on the streets and out of people cars. People are always throwing their fast food containers in our driveway . Now there needs to edible fast food bags too. The animals could eat this .The bags could be sugar free , I bet the animals would love to have some edible coffee cups to eat out here right now with all the snow on the ground. :giggle:

It doesn't seem sanitary to me. I don't want to eat something that I've been holding in my hand and setting on public tables. Not healthy either--sugar wafer wrapped in sugar wrapper with white (sugary) chocolate? That's a lot of extra sugar. It must cost more, too.

If your hands are damp or some coffee dribbles on the outside of the cup does it get sticky?

I very rarely drink coffee from a restaurant, so it doesn't bother me if other people want to use them.

rice paper reba.they did health safety testing at my local fast food restruant and after what they found I would rather eat throw away cup

If other people enjoy the cups, that's fine. Just not for me. :)

I would bring my own coffee cup , I agree with you , it not for me either the only fast food I eat is pizza and I carry my own water bottle with b/c my city water is gross. I don't drink sodas .

Not only that, but if you take the time to type KFC in your web browser, there is a ton of flack on that chain honestly. Supposedly they are not only have the worst ratings for customer service and not keeping up with demand, but they pump ridiculous amounts of chemicals into their food, way above the average fast food chain. I honestly hope I'm not crushing anyone's spirit here, but if you do care to look it up, it's pretty unappetizing.

For that reason I haven't set foot in one of their stores in years. But I do hope that they change their image. Fast food fried chicken does sound awesome.

Love KFC...but I don't foresee that edible coffee cup...never have bought coffee at KFC...and yeah...think it's a ridiculous ploy of theirs...
