hows the fuck did it got from respect to viagra?!!
Ok
so,
lets see id go to university campus and start teaching the ASL sign for viagra to get respect?!
LOL
this is ridiculous

Respecting a deaf person is as simple as seeing them as a person. Initially, it may be awkward to communicate, but trying and working with people is way better than dismissing them.

After all, you wouldn't want people to, after meeting you, treat you like you are a child, pity you, or stereotype you by what they think you can and can not do or understand. Give all other people the same courtesy :)

From the above interlude:" Viagra prescription renewal"would "the patient" actually write to the pharmacist about his "reactions" have solved the problem? Does reality come into play?

I don't think that reality is a concept you are familiar with.

I remember deaf cultures sometimes otherwise on cultures think so best reason important to cultures,I think so judgement and protect! I think so best sound their respect to deaf and hearing!

Ideology vs common sense re Viagra consultation. What is the consequence of the above interlude? Hopefully resolved in due course:wave: and the "viagra problem" "ameliorated".

Let's get off the Viagra kick and move on to the real reason for this thread. It's about respecting the Deaf, not Viagra. The Viagra episode was just a funny story about something an interpreter has to go through at times.

Still bilateral deaf since December 20, 2006-still respect the deaf as I am one.

Respecting the Deaf as is the title of this thread means respecting of Deaf culture and values - just being deaf doesn't make it automatic, it is a conscious recognition.

At the beauty shop today for MIL, while I was sitting and waiting on her, the owner came up to me, tapped me on the shoulder and we had a short chat. While we were talking he was very good about making sure to talk directly with me. Another client's son was also in the waiting area and started interrupting and tried to ask me something. I did not understand and also was not aware he was talking to me. He started asking the owner if I was retarded or something and the owner was quite upset. He went to this teenager's mother and explained what happened, and her response was, "Well, all deaf, blind and handicapped people need to be shot on site just like Hitler wanted." Needless to say, her hairdresser was totally appalled and refused to finish the job. The owner then threw both the mother and teen-aged son out and advised them to not return again. The owner and this hair stylist were both Jewish and really took offense. All of the hair stylists know I am deaf and I have never had a problem there. Most of the usual customers for Saturday also know as well.

Wow! That woman deserves a medal for standing up against that hatefulness.

Golly. I am appalled that mom and teen aged son would say such things.

I think both the owner and hairdresser were wonderful in standing up to both mom and son.

I am truly shocked! Good on the owner for kicking them out. I would have done that too but literally.
