What does the Shutdown means to you?

I wonder if there are like 6 astronauts on the space station saying, " Houston? Why the heck aren't they answering? "

Partially Closed/Shutdown: NASA

Total employees: 18,250

No tours or public access to NASA facilities; NASA Television/website goes dark

Oh dear lord, I was being sarcastic about crap on Facebook being true, did you see the eye roll I put after it? Or are you dumb because you're deaf? Yeah I just went there, goose, gander. Stereotype much?

I'm noticing also you didn't address the facts, I stress facts, I mentioned and then tried to shove a bunch of crap in my mouth, things I didn't talk about, at all. I guess because you can't argue what I did say, so you proceed straight to bluster and blonde jokes. Typical

You actually didn't address any facts. At least, not from what I could tell. I had pointed out (not in so many words) that the NSA has a program called Apache Accumulo. Google uses it.

Apache Accumulo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I then pointed out that the Obamacare website asks for some very personal information in order for you to enroll. Any of this information is, supposedly, protected by HIPPA. But, it isn't. Eric Snowden let that cat out of the bag.

You see, THAT, was what I was talking about. You addressed THAT topic by completely changing the subject, and going off on a tirade about something completely different, than what I was talking about.

And ... when you did that, you pinned blame on the Republican Party for some supposed single payer program they promulgated in the 90's (and it is 2013 and here we are after two recessions).

Do you not see a certain "disconnect" in our correspondence there?

I would, however, like to ask you something ... since you claim to be a socialist democrat (at least, from I can tell by your posts, you "appear" to be one, minus the swastika arm band of course). I am assuming that since you are a socialist democrat, you had a problem with Republicans trying to pass E-verify, as well as the Voter ID verification acts in their various forms, correct?

But, as a socialist democrat, you apparently have no problem with this same exact system when it comes to Obamacare?

Actually, it's the republican form of govt that a president is supposed to protect. The U.S. Constitution intended to create a republican government. Article IV, Section 4, states "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government…"

yep .. I noticed they did not say "a socialist democracy"

What makes it hard about this shutdown is those of us who rely on the government for our jobs and those that need the government to send us stuff so we can keep doing our jobs.

"Republic" and "Republican" are not same words.

Not affiliated to Republican Party.

It actually is affiliated Foxrac. To be a member of a "Republic", one must be a "Republican". The United States is a Republic. We have a representative republic, we vote representatives to represent our will before Congress. When our representatives do not convey the will of the people, we have tyranny. It is what makes us "exceptional".

I had it explained to me a long time ago ...

Paint this picture in your mind

Suppose we have a Sheriff in an Old West town, and he is guarding a violent sex offender who is sitting in a jail cell. Suppose the entire town converges on on the Jail; they are standing outside with flaming torches, pitchforks, and shooting their 6 shooters up in the air. The street outside the Sheriff's office is packed with people, young, old, men and women .. and they are all very angry.

The Sheriff is casually sitting outside on the porch, smoking a cigarette. He has his back up against the wall, a shotgun resting across his outstretched legs while sitting on a bench. The leader of the lynch mob comes forward, and he demands that the violent sex offender be released that very instant. The Sheriff tilts his hat back, looks the leader dead in the eye and says "I'm afraid I can't do that son."

The leader then tells the Sheriff, that the town just had a vote, and they voted to lynch the violent sex offender in the town square. Then, he was going to be drawn and quartered .. right out there in public, in front of everyone. They had voted that justice had to be done. They all had voted that the violent sex offender was guilty.

The Sheriff then says, "Son, I don't know what in tarnation bedeviled you into thinking this here is some sort of a dee mah cruh see. You see .. its like this here ... this ain't no dee mah cruh see, this is a ree puhb lick. Got it? And in a ree puhb lick, we have laws, and it ain't no mob laws neither. My prisoner is going to stand before a judge and be tried before a jury of his peers. He is not being released from my prison into your hands for some sort of mob justice that y'all decided to vote on ... sorry"

Off in the distance ... a crow caws ....

"First here, lemme tell y'all townsfolk some things .. y'all do not get to decide on my prisoner's guilt or innocence .. a jury does. But that only happens after he has been represented by his attorney before a judge, and all facts of the case are presented."

More than 2 different scenarios can happen (will explain brb)

Scenario numero uno

The leader of the lynch mob .. intent on serving mob justice, looks around at the assembled crowd. He makes a wide sweeping gesture with outstretched arms and says, "But Sheriff, you forgot something .. there are more of us than there are of you. Now I am going to say this one last time ... release the prisoner."

You see Foxrac ... THAT is a Democracy. The assembled crowd voted on an issue and they can easily use force to make the Sheriff comply with their demands. ¿Comprende mi amigo?

Scenario numero dos

After the Sheriff addresses the crowd, a strong lone boisterous voice bellows from the crowd ..."The Sheriff is right!!! We aren't savages like the prisoner, we have laws for our protection!!!"

Slowly, but surely, the rest of the crowd acknowledges that this is the right thing to do .. that each individual has certain inalienable rights, all granted by our mutual Creator.

THAT is a Republic.

No, that's incorrect, our "republic" government isn't affiliated with Republican Party.

Republic means president instead of queen, king that what UK uses monarchy government.

It is more of republic government vs. monarchy government.

Just like USSR, a former communist country. There were no republicans in the government, right?

That's not a bad smoke screen you've got there. Did you buy it or are you just renting it?

They do had republic in government too - just no monarchy.

See - Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

US is federal republic - government system.

I think you missed it entirely. A King, Queen, or Despot, all have complete control over the Government.

A Democracy and a Republic are forms of government where power is divided, so there can never be complete control by a single person.

In a Democracy, the majority rule. What if the majority are wrong? Just like when the Nazi party were democratically elected into power through the democratic process, their majority ruled and governed and squashed any political opposition they faced. So .. a Democracy can be a bit of a problem like that.

A Republic is a form of government that is very limited in its scope, range and power. The people are the ones who govern, and they govern themselves through ratification of laws and the legislation process. A representative republic, like what the United States is, is when representatives are democratically elected to represent the law of the land - i.e. The United States Constitution. A person who is a member of a Republic, is a Republican.

When the law of the land is no longer represented ... we have tyranny. When the will of the people are no longer represented - then we are governed .. which is NOT what the United States is.

and .. to add to this ... it does not matter what a United States Supreme Court Justice says ... the United States Constitution does not give the Government power to force people to purchase a product such as healthcare. Obama went about this the wrong way - instead of focusing on creating a healthy economy, he bankrupted our nation. Twice. Now, he is going to do it three times. He outright attacked private sector busineses, strangling them with legislation, and we have seen prices going up, and people endlessly looking for work and losing their homes ... now, they have to purchase something that most people thought was going to be free.

So, all these federal employees on furlough .. I am sorry .. but do try to look at the big picture .. there are families out there that haven't seen a paycheck in years.

No, I don't miss everything.

The federal republic is government system that we have and democracy (not same as democrat) means free election - we are free to vote the president, house of representative, senator, governor. In US, there are multi-parties, such as Republican Party, Democratic Party, Libertarian Party, Socialist Party, Green Party, but most voters usually sticking with Republican Party and Democratic Party. The republic in our government system doesn't affiliated with any parties, even Republican Party too. We overthrew at monarch government about 237 years ago. Our first president named George Washington was nonpartisan and it was opposed to king/queen that run as head of government.

Who elected Obama? from voters, who elected John Boehner? from voters in specified district in Ohio, who elected Ted Cruz? from voters in state of Texas. It is all about democracy - we vote and elect the government official.

Not like Obama? That's democracy for you, also I voted Obama because I mostly agree with him. Do you have problem with my voting?

Well, that's your opinion about Obamacare. We officially follow about what US Supreme Court saying, no matter if you disagree with them. US Supreme Court's ruling goes effect for all of us.

Due to disagreement with you about Obama Admin, I can't help you, sorry.

We are not a federal republic, we are a representative republic. A Federalist is a person who is ideologically aligned with Federalism. Federalism was not a part of forming our government, it resulted after our government was already established.

Federalism was a political movement, just like the Democratic party is a political movement (because they are ideologically aligned with the mufti-faceted components of a Democracy). And yes, a Republican is politically aligned with the ideology of a Republic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federalist_Party_(United_States)

The Federalists were defeated by the Democratic-Republicans and never returned to power. Their party no longer exists.

Of course there are many different political movements in the U.S. But our Constitution makes it clear that there can never be complete control of the Government by one person. This administration, in my opinion, has breached the tenets of the United States Constitution. Until the Constitution can be upheld, the government needs to shut down. The Government has no right to pry into my personal life and get between me and my doctor. The information I share with my doctor is none of the Government's business.

We have the right to shut it down.
