Can a chip be put into a Starkey Zon.5 that will allow it to lower the shaded area of the fitting range in the attachment below, passed the 80 decibel mark?

41 people read this thread, so would think someone out there knows the answer this question. :hmm:

SteveAud is in every so often he can prolly answer for you! sorry that we don't know:P

My question for the OP is why if he has a loss of 80db he is trying to wear an open fit aid at all?

Two different audiologist from different hearing clinics made these suggestions to me. One suggested the Microtech Curve, while the other suggested the Starkey Zon. These two Hearing Aids are exactly the same, so based on my high pitch 80db hearing lost, you are saying open fit HA are not right for me, are both wrong, and are more interested in a sale than what is best for my hearing loss problems.

Please feel free to give me the honest truth. :cool2:

P.S. Thank you for your reply, AliciaM. Maybe SteveAud will come in and read my post.

I hope SteveAud comes too. I am pretty certain that with an 80 db loss, you need to have a standard bte aid with a full shell ear mold which should be made sure to extend as deeply as possible into the ear canal. I do not know the motivation of your audiologist or if they can fit the aids you mention as a standard bte. I also don't know the specs for what these aids fit.

You may be able to find this information online yourself.

Bottesini,

A online audiologist that sells HA suggested the Siemens Pure 500 or the Unitron Next 16. He said they would suit me better, because they would allow adjustments to take place down to 95db. Check out the shaded area of the Zon in my first post, and the Pure & Next below, and see for yourself what he means.
