looking to find a community near me

Hi. I am Hoh. I am learning ASL I am looking to connect with people in my region. I would like to learn of events or meet ups where I could improve my signing and develope my sence of community.
I live west of Lethbridge Alberta.along hwy 3.
 
How old are you? Good on you for learning ASL! One possibility if you're still school aged is attending a school for the Deaf. Even if you are older maybe contact the school for the Deaf and see if there's any meet ups etc.....https://asd.epsb.ca/
 
thanks .... i am 58, married and live a long way from any deaf schools. i'm learning Asl on line, as reality sets in that i will likely be deaf in a few years..
was hoping to find some people on here that lived in my area.
while going to school is unlikely, its not out of the realm of possibility, and worthy of some thought.:) thanks for the link.:)
 
what now?

:P found a group an hour and half away.
now i wonder what it will be like to meet them next weekend.:shock::roll:
thoughts?
 
How cool is it that you're learning ASL!!!!! We used to have a few late deafened members here who were ASL fluent......It's a really useful skill to have even if you're "only" HOH or late deafened! Welcome to the community!
