Well, a week from today I will be Bi-Laterally implanted.
Thinking about things last night, that I will be 100% deaf when I remove my cochlears for the night or anytime Im not wearing them... so, decided to apply for a Hearing Service Dog, I kind of dont want another dog to care for, but then again I dont have all the dodads everyone else has, living alone and going deaf has really changed the ball game for me.

That is great news , a hearing dog! Who are you using to train your dog?
I went to NEADS and had to stay there for a week to train with Finlay. Of course every place is difference in how they train the dogs.

Dogs for the Deaf is the place my wife and I joined, she is a certified dog trainer.

They rescue dogs from shelters and train them , that is so great . NEADS did this too. I called one place afire Finlay dies and breed their own dogs , I think that is wrong . They should had been rescuing dogs too.

Sorry if I missed it, but did you get your magnet situation settled? I seriously hope they fix it for you. I will be anxious to hear how things are going for you. I see my CI surgeon this Friday. Not sure what I'm going to do yet, but if he agrees the bilateral will increase my hearing significantly I will have them get insurance approval....then go from there.

Last Ci surgeon received my approval and my CI surgery happened like 8-10 day later...supper fast for sure. Will wait an see.

Angel, no I am having a Cochlear rep meet me at the new activation and another mapping on the current, I am going to lay it all out on the table in front of the audi what she does and doesnt do when I ask her or demand things. Ill let the cocklear rep drill her ass, Im tired of her telling me whats best for me, she has no clue.

Just curious. How long will it be before that activation takes place?

Unbelievable that they still have not provided you with a stronger magnet. You're not a child...you can tell if your skin is breaking down or not.

Are you able to wear your CI at all? I would be so so angry if I were you. To go through the surgery, have great success, yet they won't give you what you need.

Good luck...hope things get better soon.

Haha, they called me friday, and wanted me to come try different magnet strengths... well I had an appointment for taxes so wont be til monday or so that I get out there ( about an hour drive ) so someone got a call or something lol.
Today I am running around full Deaf, left my CI's at home and just enjoying the quiet for a change here at the library surfing the net. I am experiencing phantom ear to the max. I feel everything I do through vibrations as Im very sensitive to vibrations, but I think I hear stuff like water running when turned on, the keyboard ticking on the laptop as I type and so on, but really I cant hear anything... its just so odd to experience all this. Kinda wild in a way...lol

That is great news that your Audi is finally liestening to you. Yesterday, when filing out my new CI paperwork, my Audi just asked me what strength magnet I wanted. I told her about your experience and she couldn't believe it. I can actually wear a #2 magnet and it works fairly well even with my long hair. I looked at my magnet and it's a #3 and I just dial it back a little bit.

Weird question here....but have you thought about maybe the internal part that your magnet attaches to is not as close to the surface as it should be? Just curious.

I have #2 and adjusted it to touch my head as well as dialed back, no differences at all. It's very weak to me,.

What? None of you had your skin scanned when at the audiologist? I have a N22 magnet and its deep in my skin as well as being the 2nd person at that hospital back in the 90s to get it.

When I got the new processor 2 years ago they did computer scan with the ci turned on it showed my skin flap depth and I have magnet # 5

I never had issue asking for 5 magnet for placing an order for the processor

Nope, just keep getting told they are concerned with skin breakdown, I just dont get it, as i cant hardly feel it to begin with, it barely hangs on. They gave me a #4 to try and its better, still really weak to me I think, but it will hold the processors weight it flipped off my ear and it doesnt fall off when bumped with my finger like the other magnet did, so I think the #4 is what i want. It still hasnt stopped the warbling issue so they are going to test everything next week and see whats going on. Even my backup is doing it now. sooo its either the remote causing the issue ( because things were fine til paired) of the actual implant is bad? really been irked by this issues since it started.

Do see you your doctor to find out if your skin looks like it could break down? What about going to a skin specialist to clear this up one way or the other.
