Police in Dallas shot and killed an unarmed gorilla after he escaped from an enclosure at a Dallas zoo. :madfawk: They responded after zoo employees were unable to capture the gorilla. The zoo is still trying to figure out how the gorilla managed to escape. Since this is Texas we’re talking about here, most likely the gorilla was smarter than his captors.

The injured included a mother and her toddler son. Rivers Noah, 3, was in fair condition at Children's Medical Center with multiple bites to his head and chest. His mother, Keisha Heard, 26, who was bitten on the legs, and Cheryl Reichert, who suffered arm injuries, were treated at hospitals and released.

The fourth injured person, a child, was treated at the scene.

Yikes.

Apparently, the gorilla was behaving dangerously. Gorillas has such strong strength, they can easily kill a person if they wanted to. I am an animal lover, but sometimes, we do have to stop these animals from attacking and hurting more.

Sad, but true.

but what's wrong with sleeping dart gun? its more nicer way. get the gorilla into sleep and put him back in more sercure cage

The cops had to stop it, and I think the zoo workers need to be blamed because they didn't use the pepper spray or anything to stop the gorilla!

Would you want a sleeping dart if a dog attacked your child?...It's almost the same thing....

Sadly it came to that....

How would u feel if the Gorilla hurt ur son would u want the Zoo People to use their dart gun and put him back in the cage where he belongs? I wouldn't.

When the Gorilla hurts somebody out there It needs to be killed. Its the Law same goes for Animals much as Dogs too if the Dog attacked someone They take the Dog and Put the Dog to Sleep. So I agree with the Police did the Right thing Shot the Gorilla.

lol sounds like somebody been playing "donkey kong 64" on the N64 abit TOO much...

I think they meant that the ape was unarmed because it's possible that apes can use guns if they were near an armed person and tried to grab it from them and fired the gun, etc. Gorillas are the strongest apes in the primate evloution, so he tried to escape from the zoo...BIG deal! but I dont blieve it was an excuse for the cops to shoot AND kill the ape, even though he was just trying to escape...geez the sleep dart gun would be more apporiate, actually but where were the zoo guards at this time??

well, rest in peace, banana lover...

I've just read that he injuired the little boy and the mother...and 3 other people. The big question is HOW he've escaped, but officals say that they can't explain it...so it seems one of the zoo guards was too careless to keep an eye on him or something

It wasn’t CNN that said the gorilla was unarmed. I added that in an attempt to be facetious. I was trying to sarcastically suggest that even though the gorilla didn’t have a weapon, he clearly had criminal intent

I personally put 90% of the blame on the zoo, but it was still unnecessary to kill the animal. Gorillas are the gentlest members of the great ape family. We always think that chimps are cute and cuddly and gorillas are ferocious beasts. It’s just the opposite. Chimpanzees are screaming assholes when they want to be. And they go off for practically no reason at all. Don’t ever take a toy away from a chimp—it could be the last thing you ever do (and that’s not a joke). And they really don’t like humans that much. But gorillas are gentle, they like humans, and they’re easily approachable—even in the wild. Even if you do everything you can think of to piss off a gorilla, he’ll give you plenty of warnings before he charges. And even then, his first charge will be a bluff charge. So the cops were in no real danger.

The real fault lies in the people who visit the zoos in the first place. If the public didn’t demand that we keep primates in captivity solely for our own amusement, this never would have happened in the first place. The great apes are sentient. Unlike other animals, they are aware of their own existence. The real tragedy here is not the death of one ape, but the fact that we keep other self-aware beings behind bars for our own enjoyment. Amen—rest in peace, banana lover. Now you’re free.

It´s Zookeeper who is the responsible of injured people.....
The Zookeepers must be careful & make the sure everything is safety because everyone knows that wild animals are not lame.
Don´t blame Gorilla but ZOOKEEPERS!!!!!

Hi Levonian

Interesting, I alway thought that Gorillas are not lame animal...

Chimpanzees? They are real cutes....

I carried 2 Chimpanzees (one mother & one young boy)... I wish to add the photo of me with 2 Chimpanzees on this thread but I still don´t have scanner yet... I WILL buy soon...

I am a chimpanzee—didn’t you know that?

Please post your photos! I would love to see them!

Chimpanzees are very adorable until they reach the age of 5. After that it’s a whole different story. Gorillas are far less aggressive than chimps.

dang, it must be brillant that we have afew of the world's smartest chimpanzees who can surf on the web but more importantly, surfing on ALLDEAF.COM! so, what do your researchers think when they see you surfing on the site for the hearing impaired? lol

Yeah, I've seen a video on animal planet sometime ago when some lady was adopting a young chimpanzee, wearing human clothes and stuff, treating her like a human child, and she was proably about 4 or 5 at this time and she did get out of control and get mad alot...so the "mother" has to spoil her to keep her calm or something lol

remember apes mature much faster than we do
